    You can crank up the sensitivity all the way and then run a low pass filter to get rid of all the noise ;)

    I always used a variation of the aptly name Library Sort: Throw all the books on the floor and then put them roughly in the right position on the shelf, leaving gaps. After all, you have almost infinite scratch space.

    Exactly. The only time I ever looked at sorting algorithms was in university. For the last 20+ years, all I ever did was call some sort() or qsort() library function.
    Considering whether to apply a Schwartzian Transform was probably the most I ever thought about sorting.

    ... and after you've worked with all that fancy equipment all day, pretty soon you'll be happy to do something else with your spare time.
    I still have a lot of stuff in the spare room that I've hardly touched in years except to fix a cable or a power supply.

    These days, a scope is a standalone PC with some fancy data acquisition hardware bolted on and a dumbed-down user interface with knobs.
    Many modern scopes run Windows.

    Bigfoot was only economical at the end of the 5.25" era, when the platters could be had for cheap because the demand was going away. Today nobody makes 5.25" platters any more.

    I guess you weren't around back then.
    There was no fresh milk, fruit or vegetables for some time in most of central, east and northern Europe because everything had to be tested and much had to be trashed. People were warned against collecting berries and mushrooms for years.
    The radioactive cloud went northwest to Scandinavia first and then southward to Central Europe.

    "National Socialist" is correct though and "Nationalsozialisten" is very common use in German, but only in historic context. For current groups, "Nazis" or "Neonazis" is used.
