question there are alot of programs for windows out there, why do they need to be able to see the source code to create interoperability? the fact is there should be no need as the programming languages that are out there provide the ability to run on windows. I don't see people like daemon-tools or any other software manufacturer need this so why does the european community need it?
Okay yes microsoft is big! Yes they have lots of money! Question i considered though is are they really a monopoly. I create a product called windows. you create a product called osx. We both include browsers, i include my own browser as the default browswer, i also include netscape. You include netscape but not my browswer. I own 90 percent of the market and my software is the standard in business. you share 10 percent with the rest of the other operating systems. Is it my fault my software grew to be the most well known, or is it your fault for not making a product that could compete.
Should we not criticize apple for the same thing. They made it so no other clone system could run it operating system back in the day as i recall! isn't that taking away a fair market ability?
What microsoft has done is nothing different than what you or i would do if put in the same positions. You can stick to your guns saying i would open up my source code, good i hope you do and somebody releases your source code to the general public and you loose everything cause now your company can't make money! the reason is this is for kernal mode(protected mode) not usermode drivers.
the ext2 or ext3 drivers that maybe out there or any driver that is written opensource may have to figure out a way to run it usermode. And i did rtfa you might want to reread it!

Technically they claim digital music is not the same as my records i own. Kinda funny that lets say the new bon jovi album is first analog(same as my record) then turned into a digital format then my player converts it from digital back to analog! hrmmmmm.... sounds to me like nobody has taken these clowns to the wall yet! Okay lets by harddrives from western digital or maxtor either one! lets give them a price 160 gig harddrive of lets say $35 dollars half of what is being charged on pricewatch.

now lets ad cd burner/dvd/etc... lets figure 20 dollars for this drive as it is probably top of the line.

Now lets produce a case like macs mmmmm i am think we should give it a price tag of 50 dollars since that is what a nice case like that probably costs to produce.

Now how much are they paying in labor per hour per computer to be put together. With the cost of creating an os, with the cost of marketing, with the cost of maybe loosing people and that should tell you what a new imac costs. My thought is they are loosing money to gain marketshare. As we have seen in the past that does not work! need i say more than e-machines, gateway any of those. The only reason dell has made it is brand recognition and the fact the upsell everybody. You wanna buy a 499 dollar pc that is 8 months - 1 year behind the times of technology then get charged for extended warranty and all the extras they can get you to buy then overcharge you for them. I am getting a little sick of microsoft bashing i really am. I know you guys like your linux! Guess what i have used all the systems out there. I have seen mac os 10 freeze while playing the included chess game(all the macs at the mac store, the employees went nuts trying to hide it from the customers).

this does not effect average joe normal user who knows nothing of ext3 volumes. This will be a problem you have to deal with!
