I'm not sure if you are smartr enough to gather this but there are roads all over our great country that can get you from one point to another. I didn't grow up in MN, in fact I never lived there until College. Brute assumptions made from things not written prove stupidity. And sir, you have it. And if you think red neck requires southern living, well then I still qualify. I was born in and grew up in the south.

    Are you kidding me? Seriously?

"Ask yourself: what would you do if there was no college money, no moving money, no money for transportation to work(if you had a job), no job experience, no real future but the one you make?"

Ok, I asked myself, and the answer was. . . I was there. I grew up in that situation. My Dad was a Military man, still is actually, 28yrs later. And I grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to speak of. where meals many a times consisted of potatoes we grew in the garden, and only those potatoes at times. I grew up as "red neck" as it comes. Gravel road that in the winter took 3-4 days to get plowed out after a storm. Where it was nothing to walk the 5 miles to school, cause I had football practice. Where our only family vehicle was a Ford Festiva, and I had 3 brothers, all of us in highschool at the time, and we found a way to get us 4 in the back seat so we could drive the 40 min. to church on Sunday. Where our idea of a good time was swinging on a rope in the water hole out in the east field down by the railroad tracks in our underwear, because we didn't know they actually had clothes you was supposed to wear when swimin' cause 90% of the clothes we did wear was made by Mom for the first boy and handed down to the fourth, and patched along the way.

And guess what? I didn't join the military like my Daddy and my Brothers did. No, I saved up 150 bucks from corn detasseling the summer of my senior year, and bought a car. Well if you could call it that. And left town for the City. (Minneapolis) and I signed up for college at. . . . A PRIVATE ART COLLEGE, MCAD.

And how did I do that? with no money and all I owned in the back seat of my crappy Rustbucket of a Ford Tempo? It's called motivation. It's not. . .

"but many would have chosen a different route given the opportunity."
It's called making my own opportunity, and busting my balls. It's called finding a job at the local Happy Chef working as many shifts as I can, and selling Blood Plasma 2 times a week for the entire time I was in college, and student loans to boot. Then graduating with a 4 year BFA Degree in Multimedia/3D Computer Animation.

So don't spout that crap about opportunities to me. Make your own!

I hate these pour me I can't choose my parents, it's not my fault, I didn't have a choice people. You do have a choice, you just choose to not make it.

So if I were to write an article about you, detailing every aspect of your life, especially who you had/have (kinky?) sex with (especially without your significant other knowning), that'd be ok too, because it's just information and if you had sex with someone else while in a relationship it's your fault anyway, right?

Sorry, but that logic is flawed in so many ways

Absolutely, I have no problem with that what so ever. Of course the difference is where fact and fiction collide. Proof of fact bares out some information, while only speculation can bare out some of the topics you pointed out. There is also the issue of braking the law. Violating laws, takes away a level of personal rights. In fact you give up those rights by braking the law.

That and your comments don't even relate, because you would have to state it something more like this. . .

"So if I were to write an article about your son, detailing every aspect of his life that relates to the violation and conviction of braking the law, especially who he had/have (kinky?) sex with (especially without his significant other knowning)that was illegal in nature, that'd be ok too, because it's just information that is in the public domain and if he had sex with someone else illegally while in a relationship it's your fault anyway, right?"

Then your comment might actually hold water, but then again it wouldn't change my point anyway. Your comments are related to potential slander, and the effect as directed towards me and my rights in relation to what you might right. However this is discussing a relative's discomfort/embarassment of being associated with the person in the article. If you intern was elluding to the feelings of my wife being embarassed to be associated with me because my name was used in such a publication, then the issue is still, "under what right does my wife have over my name and her association and discomfort in relation to it being published?"

Are you crazy? Not relevant? Talk about opinionated statements. Stick to the facts. That is what an encyclopedia is all about. The facts. The facts are, that the guy has a real name, and if someone is doing research on him, for say, an essay for college, having the person's real name allows said student to do more research about the person who engaged in such acts. Thus, making their report much more concise and informative. Come to think of it, that is what an encycolpedia is all about too. Being informative. Parent's should not be ashamed of their kid. That is their fault. What their son did is public record. It happened. If they are ashamed it should be of themselves, because it is them who failed their son, not everyone else.

Then I must not have been talking to you right? And the family was a part that defined me, not something I used to define the catagorical group I was talking about. I didn't say that all those things had to be important to anyone. I just defined one type of person that would make the "parent" comment and then compared that to one of my own.

But if you feel slanted by said comments, then so be it. Deal with it, then move on.

My comment was directed to the short unwitted nature of a number of posts that deal with topics like this. They follow a pattern. You know it and I know it. The only thing is I said something about it. Then in turn you commented about my comments. Wow, what a concept. I should probably patent that before it leaks out. Why I know, I should call it. . . . Actually I think this forces the game developers to make play it and beat it once, then throw it away games, and not the other way around.

The reason I say this is because they want that person who bought the game new to have to turn around and buy another game new sooner. If they can make games that have little lasting appeal but great marketing upon launch then they have a cash cow system. It's all about the repeat sales. turn out more titles, faster, and make the games have a shorter lifespan is good for the "industry" because they need you to come and buy the next latest and greatest, because the game you bought last month has been beaten, and is no fun to replay over and over.

There is people who will buy new all the time, people who will by new, unless what they want can only be found used, there is people who will only buy used unless the game they want can only be purchased new, and there is people who will only buy games used. This isn't going to change. The "industry" will get the same slice of the pie as they usually get. The ploy for them is to make those who will buy new, have to buy new more often.

It sucks, but hey that is the free market. No one makes products solely because they enjoy making them, they make them to sell them. And if they don't then they aren't in the market of making products and instead are in the hobby of making art. There is two types of art. Commercial art and personal art. Commercial art is about what the end user will pay for and personal art is solely for the pleasure of the one creating it.

Disclaimer: I attended a private Art College, and have a BFA in Multimedia-Animation with an emphasis in 3d interactive multimedia platforms. Started my own business doing interactive multimedia design, and let me tell you, you make personal art because you are passionate about the creation process, but commercial art is all about the bengies.
