Your right and that is why I specified I was doing 30mph in a 35 zone. But the fact still remains that laws aren't designed for trucks, they don't take trucks into consideration and neither do four wheelers.
"Backwards Compatibility"...are you kidding me? By your logic the following would be true:
1.) A pedestrian comes up to a street and there are signs with symbols that show you should only cross at the cross walk but HE DOESN'T KNOW the REGULATIONS so he crosses without looking at a position other than where he should have and wallah he gets run over.
2.) A four wheeler goes racing (doing the speed limit say 70 mph) up a mountain that is well posted "Watch for Slow Moving Trucks" and just assumes (because he doesn't know what those signs mean) that everyone is doing a speed similar to him and rear ends a slow moving semi.
It is true that as a semi truck driver we are (supposed) to be more aware and cautious than the rest of those around us....and as a general rule most of us are. But even for those of us who are it is never enough because four wheelers and pedestrians have no fracking clue and needlessly and wrecklessly put their own lives and our lives and careers in jeopardy.
Truth be told if I am driving down the interstate doing the speed limit, my log book is accurate and current, I am sober and doing everything completely legal and a four wheeler is beside me when my tire blows, taking out his windshield, causing him to crash and die.....guess what I am going to prison for vehicular manslaughter. My career, my life and the lives of my family are ruined forever because some clueless and uninformed four wheeler had no idea the danger of riding beside a semi.
You four wheeler drivers have blamed us for so much shit (whether it was our fault or not) that now we are always at fault and punished harsher than anyone else.
That my friends is FUCKING BULLSHIT!
I agree with you for the most part....truck drivers do stupid shit, I won't argue with you on that.....the point I was trying to make is that four wheelers are just as stupid and needlessly put their lives in danger by not looking, riding beside a semi, etc....It is never ever ever a good idea to be near a semi whether is a true professional or an idiot. If you are beside a semi and one of our tires blows your car is history and most likely you as well, yet four wheelers always ride right beside us and won't let us over so we can get out of their way. Some of us truck drivers do know how to drive but when you drive 600 miles a day, 125,000 miles a year, etc. you get fucking tired of the ignorance of people behind the wheels of cars that have no respect for your size or the danger you pose, even when doing everything correctly we are dangerous to be near.
Maybe so but from my own experience there are towns here in the state with posted speed limits of 35 mph. I can drive thru those towns at 2AM at 30 mph and still can't stop before the light goes from yellow to red. That is my point....they lights are not designed with 80,000 pound trucks in mind....they are designed for cars and thus do not always allow trucks enough time to clear an intersection before changing to red on us and green on the other direction.....hence four wheelers need to learn to look and not be like "GREEN LIGHT------GO GO GO GO".
While I am the first to admit trucks do some stupid shit you four wheelers need to understand a few things....
1.) It takes us a long damn time to get moving and almost as long to get stopped.
2.) Most of us get paid by the mile so unless we are moving we ain't making no money.
3.) 2/3rd's the length of our truck is a blind spot where WE CAN'T SEE YOU...
With that said let me explain a few things.
1.) Late at night traffic lights are on a faster cycle than in the daytime. By the time we notice a light is yellow we usually do not have time to stop (safely) before it turns red. This is due to the 80,000 lb weight of our loaded trucks and we just can't stop that damn fast....period. If you four-wheelers would pay attention and watch to see if we are stopping before you pull out there wouldn't be a problem here....but if the light turns green, that means "go" and the hell with what might be happening around you.
2.) You four wheelers get in front of us, with no concept of how hard it is for us to slow down, and you just putt along, refusing to get out of the f'ing way. Then when we try to pass you stay right beside us (usually in the blind spot) and won't move, even if we have a turn signal on....well there comes a time when we just have to move on over. Our livelihood depends on rolling as many miles as possible in the 11 hours the DOT says we can drive and we need to be able to roll, not poke along behind some four wheeler with nothing better to do than PISS US OFF.
3.) There are signs on most trucks now that state "if you can't see my mirrors I can't see you". Well they should be changed to "if you can't see me in my mirrors, I can't see you". Just because you can see my mirrors doesn't mean I can see you. No matter how many mirrors you put on a 70' semi there is always a blind spot and you four wheelers will find it and ride in it all damn day long. Then call us un-professional when we don't see your dumb asses.
First off the person that wrote that article is a FRACKING IDIOT.
Second off, Microsoft could never buy Sony (even if they wanted too, which they probably do) because it would make them a MONOPOLY in both SOFTWARE and HARDWARE and ain't no 1st or 2nd world government gonna allow that to happen. Billy boy aint got no where near enough money to buy off all the governments of the world to get that purchase allowed. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, EVER.
What is highly more likely though is that: a.) Microsoft will invest in Sony, b.) Microsoft will buy the Game Console business from Sony (might be able to get that thru the governments), or c.) Microsoft will buy Nintendo and really screw Sony up. (Not sure if they could even get that thru the governments cause it would give them a massive portion of the game console market and virtually ensure the death of the PlayStation franchise)
I have read tons on articles and posts lately about "Apple going to Intel", "Windows XP running on Macs", etc.
But in all these articles and posts no one has mentioned what I see as the single most important factor in Apples recent success and changes.
MICROSOFT OWNS PART OF APPLE - On Aug. 6, 1997 Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple (Cnet Report).
I have been doing some digging into Apple's SEC filings over the last 5 years. I found an interesting paragraph in an 8-K filing they did on Jan. 6, 1998 (link here). The following is the excerpt I want to point out:
Microsoft announced that Office 98 Macintosh Edition would begin shipping later this month--months ahead of their Windows version. This version of Office offers Macintosh users advanced functionality, such as self-repairing applications, not currently available to Windows users.
Note a couple things:
1.) Microsoft released Office 98 for the Mac, but it was NEVER RELEASED for Windows. We went from Office 97 to Office 2000.
2.) Office 98 for the Mac had Self-Repairing Applications which wasn't introduced for the PC until Office2000 and it didn't work most of the time.
I don't know about ya'll but this seems really strange. I mean who would have thought that Microsoft could write better software, in a quicker manner for Mac OS8 than they could for Windows95/98. That seems very freaking strange to me....
My perfect home would be the most technologically advanced home on Earth. I would start with:
1.) A 60" HDTV in every room, 2.) PC Based Digital Video Recorder / Gaming Station hooked to every TV. 3.) I would have a smart fridge, stove, oven, microwave, bathroom(s), lighting, locks, alarms, HVAC Controls, etc. 4.) Every floor in the house would be pressure sensitive to within 3 pounds and would be able to distinguish each person from another. 5.) The outside of the house would be completely surrounded by an intelligent security system capable of recognizing AUTHORIZED PEOPLE based on Height, Weight, Facial Features and Voice. 6.) I would have floor bots that automatically vacuum carpeted floors and others to automatically mop and wax tile, linolium or hardwood floors. 7.) I would have a more life sized robot capable of communicating wirelessly with all kitchen appliances. It would store a meal plan and be able to prepare meals automatically based on either a preset time, a phone call telling it to start dinner or the family's arrival at home. 8.) The house would be equipped with an intelligent defense system that would include hidden storm/intrusion shutters, automatic notification to authorities, redundant power back up using a sub-terranian power generator with at least a month's supply of fuel and sub-terranian redundant phone/cable/internet connections. 9.) The ability to hydralically lower the entire home into a sub-terranian shelter capable of with standing a direct nuclear impact. The sub-terranian shelter would be equipped with ample food, water and power generation for pro-longed sustainability. It would also be equipped with Intelligent Artificial Lighting. 10.) It would be equipped with Intelligent Artificial Lighting capable of mimicing Sunlight during part of the day and a moonlight, star filled sky part of the day.
Now for a walk thru and more detailed explanation. Assume I have a family of 5, Myself, a wife, two kids and a dog.
The morning comes my wife and I get out of bed. As we get each get out of bed the house asks if we are ready for our morning bath. We say yes! The bath/shower is started to our own individual preference. While taking a our shower/bath the kids are woken and their baths/showers are started automatically and the dog is let out for his morning potty and romp around the yard. While we are in the showers, the house brings our pre-selected outfit for that day to the bathroom we are in, automatically defogs the bathroom mirror and opens the intelligent medicine cabinet with the shaving items, deoderant, perfume, etc we normally use in the morning in the front. Once all of us are dressed and ready for the day we go down stairs, just as our pre-selected morning meal is being set on the table. While we are eating the house reminds us of our agenda, schedule for the day and tells us where our keys, purse, school books, etc are so we dont forget anything.
Once we all leave the house in the morning, the dog is let back in, the closes all the medicine cabinets (after robots put everything back in place), then the house cleans itself (bathrooms and kitchen included) so that when we get home everything is perfect. The house then goes into a standby mode where the lights are all adjusted, doors and windows are locked and temperature adjusted. The house monitors for intruders and for our return home using the external surveillance system.
Now at 3:15 PM the house observes two kids getting off the school bus, after a quick analysis it determines that they belong and automatically unlocks the front door, adjusts the lighting to their preferences, and welcomes them home. It then feeds them a pre-selected snack and monitors them to ensure they are doing there homework which was sent over from the school earlier in the day. Once they complete their homework it is placed in a scanner and checked by the house. If it is satisfactory the house then turns on the tv/radio/computers/gaming systems to their preset choice and allows them to entertain th
1.2 Petabytes....will they offer this in a HD Camcorder? Imagine the awesome Porno videos I could shoot in my bedroom with every hot chick I met using one of them baby's.....Hell Yea bring it on. Can I pre order like 10 of them?
In the original article there was this statement "all downloads are permanent, and you can get them from any source, and do what you want with them".
Take note of the last part "and do what you want with them". That means I could legally download 30 songs, burn them to cd, make 100 copies and sell them to anyone I want to for $1.00. Yea Right, like they are really gonna let me do that.
But if it ever did happen, hell yea I would pay the fee (at least up to $10 a month).
I have been a computer tech for 11 years now. I have slipstreamed many a cd for purposes like this. Even before slipstreaming was a possibility from Microsoft I was doing it by hacking the iso and putting the newer files into it. With that said, a little creativity and Googling will do wonders for you in this case.
As far as it not being legal to use your own disk to install WindowsXP +SP2 +Updates is BULLSHIT! It is perfectly legal as long as your installation meets a couple requirements. 1.) The installed Operation System is the exact same one as originally came on the system when purchased from an OEM like Dell, Gateway, etc. Meaning if it an OEM system you are installing an OEM version of the OS. If it is a clone system that originally came with a RETAIL version of the OS you must install the RETAIL version of that OS. If it was built/purchased for a business with a VLK license you must install the VLK version of the OS. 2.) You must either return the comptuer to the user UNREGISTERED/ACTIVATED depending on which version of the OS was installed; or you can use a do one of the following:
a.) Use a customer supplied license key to register the OS for them.
b.) Sell the customer a new license key (which you can buy in bulk from Microsoft) and use that
license key to register/activate the Operating System.
With that said, it is possible to create a boot cd that will have every possible version (OEM, Retail, VLK) of WindowsXP/2003 with all the service packs/updates already included. Furthermore, it is possible to make each of those install unattended without entering registration/activation info during setup so that once the OS is installed it has all the updates but has not been activated or registered (doesn't have a licence key entered).
I have one of those CD's that has all three versions of XP SP2, all three versions of 2003 SP2 and all three versions of MCE 2005 SP2. It is perfectly legal to own and use as long as the proper license key is used before returning to the customer or you return it to the customer with no license key used.
To make one of those disks, you can follow a fairly easy process: 1.) Make a folder on your hard drive (in the root for ease) called TechCD 2.) In the folder TechCD create a folder for each OS you want on the disk, like:
a.) Windows XP SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: xpsp2oem
b.) Windows XP SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: xpsp2ret
c.) Windows XP SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: xpsp2vlk
d.) Windows 2003 SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: 2003sp2O
e.) Windows 2003 SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: 2003sp2R
f.) Windows 2003 SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: 2003xp2V
g.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: mce5sp2O
h.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: mce5sp2R
i.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: mce5sp2V 3.) Then copy all the files from each Install CD into the appropriate directory. Don't copy the non
required stuff like Tools, etc. as it will make the CD Image to large to fit on 1 CD. 4.) Now use slipstream the appropriate service packs and updates into each one. (Googling Required) 5.) Now create you a Boot Image with a menu to select which OS/Version to install. (Googling Required) 6.) Now use a tool like UltraISO Media Edition to create a Bootable ISO using the boot image
you made in step 5 and the various folders you created in steps 1-4. I suggest ULTRAISO because
it has a feature (which you have to turn on in setti
Well first let me say that I have NEVER used any OS other than Microsoft's until last night! I finally got fed up with their inferior shit and bit the bullet. I backed up all my data, exported my emails and address book to Thunderbird, backed it up and the wiped my main computer and installed Ubuntu "Breezy Badger" 5.10. I have attempted numerous times with numerous flavors of linux to find a replacement and none of them came even remotely close to Windows "User-Friendlyness". That has changed. Mark Shuttleworth you are my hero!
Now with that said, I came here today and read the remarks from the VP and am someone suprised. I was reading and thinking damn, Vista is gonna be better. Maybe I shouldn't have switched to linux after all. Then BAM like a 10 ton elephant landing on my head, there it was a MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE (and likely a program from his comments) telling the world that all the hype and focus on security is BULL SHIT!
There is one thing however that really did impress me about the VP and his comments. He made it very very clear that if the ANONYMOUS COWARD that works at MICROSOFT wanted to help IMPROVE THE PROCESS (i am paraphrasing here) that he could contact the VP in numerous ways and he would NOT BE IN JEOPARDY over his COMMENTS.
That definitely signals to me that there is a change going on in the thinking at Microsoft. Granted it may not be working, yet....but they are FINALLY trying!
Hopefully by the time "Vienna" hits gold they will have their stuff together and it will have been built from the ground up by security conscious programmers and not put thru a security review after development is finished.
If I write a letter, say to a Judge disputing a ticket. I mail that letter Registered Mail to the judge. Under curent US law that letter is COPYRIGHTED the date it is POST MARKED (bet you didn't know that). Now, if I take that letter, digitize it and make it available in a SHARED folder I am breaking the law. Even tho I AM THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER.
No damn wonder, I almost never right letters! LOL!
1.) 180 Solutions has now resorted to FLAT OUT HACKING to get their shit on your computer. I use Firefox 99% of the time. Today, while reading Slashdot (in Firefox) my computer mysteriously rebooted. When it came back up (for a few minutes) I noticed that I now had 180 solutions crap all over my fracking computer. Attempts to clean it caused my computer to reboot again and again and again. I wound up having to do a System Restore to a few hours earlier. These FUCKERS WILL PAY!
2.) While I am a big fan of ALTERNATE Operating Systems, having the GENERAL PUBLIC switch to them would not solve the problem, for long. The reason Linux, Unix and MacOS don't have this problem is because there isn't a big enough user base to make figuring out how to infect these systems PROFITABLE. If you had a massive move of people to these OS's then they Spyware people would just move too.
3.) Someone asked why there is an RIAA to protect CORPORATE INTERESTS but nothing to protect CONSUMER INTERESTS. Well there are several reasons: 1.) They have BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, 2.) They work together (probably the most important) to form these groups like the RIAA, 3.) We (the voters) keep electing these low-life son-of-a-bitches that PROTECT CORPORATE AMERICA while SCREWING CONSUMERS and 4.) American's (the consumers) have become complacent and won't TAKE A STAND against CORPORATE AMERICA to PROTECT OUR RIGHTS.
If people would spend half as much time BITCHING ONLINE (Like I am doing right now) and more time FORMING A GROUP then we might have enough power to CHANGE THINGS.

Why would you want to run Windows on a Mac when you can run OSX on a PC for HALF THE PRICE.
I am all for being able to dual-boot WindowsXP and Mac OSX. But I would never pay for a Mac and install WindowsXP on it. I would however, buy a PC and install OSX on it.
For the $1999 price of the new Intel iMac I could build a CoreDuo 3.68Ghz system with 1GB DDR3300, SLI Radeon Graphics cards w/Cable Card ready TV Tuners, 250GB SATA Hard Drive, Dual Layer DVD+-R/W burner w/ Lightscribe, install Microsoft Media Center 2005 Edition SP2 and Mac OSX 10.4.4 w/ Media Center addon features.
I would have three times the computer and still have a couple hundred bucks left over.
So again I ask, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO RUN WINDOWS ON A MAC?
Okay let me throw my two cents out on a couple things.
1.) The new iMac's are the same price! Yea, we know. However, the PPC iMacs were 1.6Ghz, the new Intel iMacs are 3.6Ghz. Plus the new Mactels perform almost 3 times faster than the PPC iMacs did. That's THREE TIMES the MAC for the SAME PRICE. Sounds cheaper to me!
2.) Who in there right freaking mind would pay $2000 for an iMac so they can run WindowsXP on it? That is like buying a $200,000 Ferrari and then putting a Volkswagon 2100cc engine in it. Come on people, get your GEEK HEADS out of the perverbial "I CAN DO IT" sand.
3.) The better question would be: Can a "Designed for Windows" or "Designed for Linux" hardware box run the Intel version Mac OSX? Now think about it, if you could write a small TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program that loaded from the MBR (Master Boot Record) like a Boot Manager does that would translate the PC Bios to EFI you could easily run OSX on computer designed for Windows or Linux. That means you could effectively buy a $400 linux box and install OSX on it. Now that would be FREAKING COOL and very very useful. Imagine being able to build/buy a PC with comparable hardware to the iMac for $1000 and then run OSX on it....Along side WindowsXP.....WAY COOL....WAY USEFUL....EXTREMELY GEEKY

To make one of those disks, you can follow a fairly easy process:
1.) Make a folder on your hard drive (in the root for ease) called TechCD
2.) In the folder TechCD create a folder for each OS you want on the disk, like:
a.) Windows XP SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: xpsp2oem
b.) Windows XP SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: xpsp2ret
c.) Windows XP SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: xpsp2vlk
d.) Windows 2003 SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: 2003sp2O
e.) Windows 2003 SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: 2003sp2R
f.) Windows 2003 SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: 2003xp2V
g.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (OEM) - Folder name: mce5sp2O
h.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (Retail) - Folder name: mce5sp2R
i.) Windows Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 (VLK) - Folder name: mce5sp2V
3.) Then copy all the files from each Install CD into the appropriate directory. Don't copy the non
required stuff like Tools, etc. as it will make the CD Image to large to fit on 1 CD.
4.) Now use slipstream the appropriate service packs and updates into each one. (Googling Required)
5.) Now create you a Boot Image with a menu to select which OS/Version to install. (Googling Required)
6.) Now use a tool like UltraISO Media Edition to create a Bootable ISO using the boot image
you made in step 5 and the various folders you created in steps 1-4.
LOL!
Okay a couple things I want to say:

You missed the point so let me restate it.
