    What DRM on a game console is worse than the bullshit you put up with in PC Land? Maybe I'm a bit behind here but I've never run into an install limit, for example.

    Heh. Here's a tip: 'Let Me Google That For You' is only worthwhile when the search terms are obvious. If you put in something as obscure as "key0x89b", then the sarcasm is just lost.

    As for the links, thank you, I perused them, but I cannot find why you're raking Apple over the coals on it. The article is about certificates being burned in, "key0x89b" is about burning the decryption keys for the filesystem, unique to each device, into the memory on the machine. There are reasons why this is bad but it has nothing to do with things like man-in-the-middle attacks as mentioned in the article.

    Please feel free to correct me, perhaps the list of links you showed me made me misinformed.

    Nice biased article leaving Apple out, when part of Apple's touted security is HARD CODED KEYS embedded in hardware.

    So whether its camera is all the way off or in warm standby isn't very relevant to privacy if no information is being sent out.

    How do we know it's not storing images to transmit once the go-button is pushed again?

    I don't like ads, but I don't want ISPs to be allowed to monitor or alter content mid-stream. I appreciate the intention, but that's a door we've already been clear we don't want opened.

    What I would like, however, is an ad-blocking router.

    Those two statements are in conflict with each other. ;)

    Writing a GUI pales into insignificance compared to writing the core OS kernel and supporting frameworks and plumbing.

    If that were even remotely true Linux would have a much better marketshare right now. I'm not sure why you're writing off the GUI, it's like you're under-estimating what it takes to put together a system that supports Apps, varying hardware, and simultaneously attempting to be secure and totally open about it.

    The kernel is not where most of the development time for iOS or Android was spent.

    All they need is a different GUI and specific drivers for the phone baseband hardware.

    Yeah... all that's left is the really hard part.

    I'm not saying it's true, but for a modern shooter or perhaps FPS, they could simply substitute "game" targets for real-life ones, and otherwise the conversation might sound much you would hear in some games.

    Heh. I've never heard anyone use in-game chat like that. The closest I've ever encountered was someone strategizing how to violate another player's mother.
