I'm sorry, I know this is Anti-Open-Source (TM), but I think that GAIM is clearly trademark infringement. Adding one letter does not mean you're safe, any more than a clone of Windows named GWindows would be reasonable.
I have been trying to make my computer silent for about two years now. It is still not quiet enought to keep on at night in my bedroom. I'll keep trying though.
I highly agree. This is why I have been looking into using *BSD lately, my hard drive is only so big. I always thought that one reason for using Linux was that it took up less disk space than Windows. Although this it is true that Linux will take up less space for the same functionality as Windows, all the distros pack in way too many programs in the default install. I try selecting only the programs I want but it still seams to take up too much of my disk.
Putty is the best program I know of to connect to a remote computer using ssh/telnet from Windows. Its free too!

There is a little thing called XWindows.
How can this be the "best" Linux if sound does not work out of the box?
I need to stop reading /.
A very long and informative site on quiet PC's: home.swipnet.se/tr/silence.html

There is a Windows port of Tux Racer, why would I need to run the linux binary on Windows?
You do not have to run Solaris on it... :-)

Does anyone have the MD5 check sums for the kde 2.0 rpm's? I can't find them anywhere.
With all this talk about Red Hat 7.0, what do people think about Suse 7.0?
