Similar responses were given to those who believed the Earth was round and that we were not the center of the universe. Yet people still dismiss those with different, and possibly correct, views as insane/drunk/stoned.
"Given infinite money it would still take about a decade to rewrite 60% of a modern day OS. Any halfway decent programmer knows this, and Microsoft absolutely would know this."
I don't believe so. To write 100% of the code for an OS from scratch, it takes a few years, not a decade. Only REwriting 60%, with a basis of what failed to work on, it should not take as much time.
From what I have studied, if they pull this off, we could have people safely living on the moon, and astronauts may not lose bone density with prolonged life in space. And to the post that had something about "force fields," the Federation may be upon us soon...
As a beta tester for Vista, I'm glad they are rewritting the code. So far, many features are inaccessible. Links are broken. The main computer Administrator cannot access the boot.ini (or whatever it is called in Vista, can not remember at the moment) and the boot.ini for Vista must be edited by going to Windows XP and accessing the Vista partition. And to the post entitled "you Fail it", I'd appreciate it if you would create a more intelligent post. We Slashdotters are not impressed by the abstract nonsense and profanity.
I already have a 256MB agp NVidia 6800 Ultra OC. I'm not going to be upgrading to another AGP card that doesn't have that much of an increase over mine. The only time I will bother to upgrade is when i can do a full package. Asus MoBo with AMD 64-bit processor package, DDR2, PCIe dual SLI ability...then I will get a better card. And they will be 512s, I'm sick of minor upgrades.
Great, I can't wait to pay 300 bucks to buy a system, only to find out MS made Sony's mistake and only inculded 1 analog stick. And then, they will port Halo but they won't even adjust the controls, so you will have to rely on a stick that isn't there to aim. And after 10 minutes of shooting straight in front of me, the lack of a heat sink will burn my hands into oblivion.
This was bound to happen. Microsoft jumped on the console badwagon, and now they jump on the handheld bandwagon. Much like most other handhelds that tryed to compete against Nintendo, this may fail...
What's next? With Sony stopping the production on many products, we will soon be hearing: "Sony has announced today that they will no longer continue with production of their much anticipated Playstation 3." That will inevitably lead to Microsoft becoming godlike in the gaming industry, and they may possibly pay off Nintendo to cut out of the console race as well, and Nintendo will be reduced to making games for the only console left alive. I hope this doesn't become a recurring habit for Sony.
Well, this has temporarily shot off most of my fears about the inevitable taking over of robots. Honda still has their's, but it does not scare me nearly as much as one under the design of the technical powerhouse that is Sony.
Ok, so if I were to type a document for, say, my English class, and I posted it on my website, then would that be illegal? If that is the case, then the RIAA can shove it, because I'll do it again, and again, and again.
