Of course, people that need extra security should run their own server. It seems that the software powering mykolab is 100% Free Software: http://kolab.org/
A sad day for the entire IT world indeed:(
It’s interesting that PJ is recommending https://mykolab.com/ as a way to have secure emails:
If you have to stay on the Internet, my research indicates that the short term safety from surveillance, to the degree that is even possible, is to use a service like Kolab for email, which is located in Switzerland, and hence is under different laws than the US, laws which attempt to afford more privacy to citizens. I have now gotten for myself an email there, p.jones at mykolab.com in case anyone wishes to contact me over something really important and feels squeamish about writing to an email address on a server in the US.
The new online initiative, Elevate America, is set to equip close to 2 million people (over the next three years) with the skills needed to succeed in the field of technology.
So they are not trained in using Microsoft products?
Do not forget to mention, that Salasaga is Free (as in free speech) Software licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License. This program may be still lacking several important features, but at least everybody is free to contribute and improve this piece of software.
No - I don't even care if its free (F/LOSS free). As long as it fucking works and gives me 3D hardware acceleration under Linux on my laptop, I'll be happy (Radeon xpress 200m)... You should care because only a free driver really ensures that it "fucking works" now, tomorrow and even in a few years when AMD dropped support for the driver because the card is no longer sold. A free driver has the big advantage that we (you, me, everybody) can fix and improve it and give the improved driver away to the community, so everybody benefits.
I said that the GPL is not about Open Source, because most people I know (also many non-computer guys) think of Open Source as having the source code available somewhere. They mostly don't care whether that's the case or not. They do not know that the trademark "Open Source" meant originally Free/Libre Software. They do not know that it is their freedom which is at stake here. Even Bruce Perens one of the founders of the Open Source movement said that It's Time to Talk About Free Software Again. We should listen to him!
I should hope not... I expected it to be about open-source software and Linux... The GPL isn't about "Open Source" and Linux either. It is about securing people's freedom. Unfortunately, most people are not aware of this important issue.
No! The time to sign petitions is (hopefully) over! No it is time to vote with our wallets! Let's all go out and buy one ATI graphic card the second the drivers are released as free software! Then sales will explode and that sets a huge sign for other hardware manufacturers far beyond the graphic sector. Eventually, in a few years, a manufacturer who is not supplying free drivers will not be able to compete on the market. But unfortunately I don't expect the wave of freedom reach unto the embedded device like cellphones.

I don't know what it is, but I know what it should be: non-commercial private use!
