  1. Re:Request on Guitar Hero III, 80s Tracks Announced · · Score: -1

I played gh1 with a friend, then gh2 briefly, and enjoyed both a lot. I thought about buying a ps2 just to play them, and I've never owned a console...

Instead, I took the $200ish that gh1+ps2 would cost and invested in a Fender Squire Strat pack including guitar/amp/bag/picks/all that stuff. was just over $200. I highly recommend it, its a great beginner's guitar. I've been playing for about 5 months now and I am absolutely happier playing it than I ever would have been if I'd bought yet another video game...

As to guitar hero helping you play better... strongly disagree I'm afraid. strumming a little plastic bar is absolutely nothing like strumming strings on a real guitar, and while the movement of the other hand is similar, its like playing a guitar with 5 frets instead of.. um... god somewhere in the hundreds? Also chords are horizontal (multiple strings) while chords on gh are vertical, which would accomplish nothing on a real guitar. I suppose I just stated the obvious, but whatever. for all of those reasons, i must say, if you're learning guitar... the game is just a fun thing to do, and won't translate at all to reality. What does translate to reality is the feeling of accomplishment you get from practicing and learning songs, as well as feeling like a rock star. that part I love about both.

Most fun race game to play multi IMHO... I think it was F-Zero "X" for n64.

I'd play that game right now if I could..

  6. Re:Count me out on Bungie Hiring PC Developers · · Score: 1

Bungie is an excellent company with a good reputation. I personally have been playing bungie games from Pathways, to marathon, through Myth:TFL, Myth2:soulblighter, Halo, and I'm looking forward to Halo2 for PC. Just because MS bought them, doesn't mean they're going to immediately become greedy MS clones. I know its hard to believe, but I think part of the reason Halo and Halo2 have been so successful is BECAUSE MS has let bungie have the freedom to just make a really amazing game, their way.
