WOW, what a bigoted anti-religious thing to say. Just because you believe that there is something out there larger than yourself does not mean you turn your brain off. Not everyone who believes in God is a racist, a bigot or a homophobe; it just seems those are the ones that get the most press coverage.

Besides the last poll I saw ~80% of the adult population in the US believed in God (not necessarily Jesus but a creator) so why do you find it surprising that the candidates would pander to a group that large?
Yeah the red spots on Jupiter are all my fault for drive a Suburban and having my thermostat set at 78.
Or this goes to prove extra-terrestrial life on or a secret government base on Jupiter because we all KNOW that there is no such thing as natural cycles of global warming and cooling.
The global warming crowd has consistently gotten their facts wrong and ignored the data for decades. Their dates change and their forecasts get more disastrous every time one for their predictions fail to materialize. They have manipulated data to suit their computer models. Their models can "predict" the future but they still have yet to accurately model what happened in the past. There are lies damn lies and statistics, and they are using statistics to push an agenda that is nothing short of Soviet style communism with them as the new ruling class. They don't live what they preach but demand that we live it and exempt themselves. I am sick to death of them talking about how I'm the one that is responsible for the climate of the planet but ignore the solar fluctuations and consistently deny funding to studies that could prove or disprove it. They really don't want to run any experiments that could show what is really happening. In the Middle Ages England had a wine industry, Greenland had farming communities; yet, the temperature data that shows this is strangely missing from the "hockey stick" graph.

The fact that the climate changes over time is hardly debatable. However, the scientific debate on what is CAUSING climate change has hardly started.
What you are missing is that during the first half of the last century the USA did not have the welfare state that is currently in place here now. Because of this if you came into the USA before the 1940's, you were expected to either work or starve. Soup kitchens and other charity was setup by PRIVATE individuals and other charity organizations (mainly Christian churches). These were supported by PRIVATE citizens who donated to those causes, there was no government support or bail-out like we have now. As such new immigrants were a boost to the economy by providing a cheap and willing labor force since those coming over were looking to ASSIMILATE and BUILD a new life here in America.
What we are seeing now is that there is a large and growing population that does not want to assimilate, does not want to contribute and only wants to take what they can. Now to be fair there are a lot that do want to come and be a part but those are the exception not the rule and typically are the LEGAL immigrants. By having this bloated welfare system that gets bigger everyday, immigration must be limited to those that will come and work otherwise the net drain on the system will cause the economy and the country to collapse. That is why student, work and tourist visas are easy to get but limited in duration while permanent immigration visas are much tougher to come by since part of the process requires you have a job and a sponsor (who is supposed to take care of you if something happens to you job so you aren't a burden to society) or that is how it is supposed to work.

I do believe that the era of cheap gas is growing short and that the more expensive gas that we do have now is going to stay for quite some time. During this time we will see the advent of new technologies and fuel sources. New vehicle types will be made not because of government intervention but because of consumer demand for a vehicle with a cheaper fuel source. Nothing will happen until the consumer demands it.
