  1. Doesn't make sense. on Privacy Group Gives Google Lowest Possible Grade · · Score: -1, Redundant

If I am not mistaken, Google acts merely as a pointer to information. At worst case it seems to me they only exacerbate already existing leaks in private information done by other websites. Blaming Google for this seems like blaming guns for violence. They can both be used for different things, but they don't know the difference.

  2. End of the waiting game?! on Microsoft Invents Split Screen PC · · Score: 0

Every company I've worked for would use this as an excuse to buy half as many computers, save the money, and keep the customer waiting.

  3. New products on DARPA Developing Defensive Plasma Shield · · Score: 2, Funny

Fresh from the R&D of UAC, we today present you with... THE FUTURE. BEHOLD THE BFG-9000! The future of all warfare, never again will the people of your country stand a chance of usurping your power even if they are the majority! I for one welcome our superiorly armed overlords. (Two memes in one post!)

  4. Re:Missing Word = Jury on Open WAP = Probable Cause? · · Score: 1

All the prosecution has to do is say the magic words and the jury doesn't care about reasonable doubt. It would be laughable how prone most people are to herd behavior when you say "child pornography," almost reminiscent of a species circling around its youth and trying to seem intimidating in the face of a "predator." And you people think we've evolved so much...

  6. Cold and MSHeartless. on Confidential Microsoft Emails Posted Online · · Score: 3, Interesting

I think it is kind of refreshing to see such emails. At least it lets us know that they aren't totally disconnected from reality and at least from the looks of it want to make progress that is not only profitable for their company, but for computing as a whole. Oh yeah, I HATE TEH MICRO$AUFT ZOMG! Sorry, was obligatory.

  7. Re:News media doesn't get it on Google's Action Makes A Mockery Of Its Values · · Score: 1

The Chinese government is not evil. They are no more evil than the US Government. Although it is against the principles of the enlightenment to censor and filter information, in this case, it is for the greater good. Regardless of their political affiliations, China will inevitably become one of the greatest world powers in history. Google understands this and is preparing for the future. Now, I am not saying prepare for your new Maoist Overlords, but to ignore business with China is to invite your bankruptcy. However, if Google continues to follow China's rules, they can be along with the government in their change toward democracy, which is all but impossible to stop after the introduction of capitalism to the people. It will filter down, and China, as well as other similar nations, will probably be better off than most other people in the world. Google is merely playing the game, and doing a damn fine job. As a computer scientist, I would be proud to work for such a company. (not a plant)
