  1. Re:Moo on Wi-Fi Fingerprints -- the End of MAC Spoofing? · · Score: 1

You cannot beat this in software. Finally, a subject on slashdot I can speak about that I truly have first-hand knowledge of. The fingerprinting is based on the characteristics of the RF transmitter. Regardless of the software portion of the device you cannot hide the characteristics of your own physical transmitter. Let's look at it as a human fingerprint as an example. You could theoretically analyze another fingerprint and add it's properties to yours via some physical method, but without completely covering your own finger you cannot hide the unique characteristics of your own fingerprint. Hiding the characteristics of a radio transmitter may not be impossible, but it certainly is not feasible. Given the fact that the issue at hand is spoofing of another user's equipment rather than hiding your identity it would not be feasible to spoof another device's fingerprint. You could avoid being tracked by fingerprint by randomly altering characteristics of your radio's transmitter via software modulation techniques, but you cannot completely spoof another radio's fingerprint due to your own fingerprint being a part of the overall characteristics. Therefore, access to a MAC controlled network would still be denied. On the other hand, use WPA for crying out loud.

Ignoring the obvious lack of a period after the word processing let's take a closer look at this statement.

Am I the only one amazed at the fact that a peer reviewed article from the scientific community suggests, whether intentional or not, that the brain of a dolphin was designed and not a product of evoltion?

Chalk up a minor victory for the ID crowd.

I recently received a bonus. Was I bought? Hell yeah. That's what bonuses are about. They reward productive employees. And why do they pay such a reward? Because they want your loyalty. It's not about being nice. It's about keeping you onboard. As for malware, I didn't RTFA. I've avoided Yahoo BHOs and programs like the plague anyway.

N.H. Rev. Stat. Ann. 644:9 states:
II. As used in this section, "private place" means a place where one may reasonably expect to be safe from surveillance including public restrooms, locker rooms, the interior of one's dwelling place, or any place where a person's private body parts including genitalia, buttocks, or female breasts may be exposed.
This would suggest that a front porch is fair game as it is not private. . Unfortunately, paragraph I states:
    I. A person is guilty of a class A misdemeanor if such person unlawfully and without the consent of the persons entitled to privacy therein, installs or uses: ... (c) Outside a private place, any device for the purpose of hearing, recording, amplifying, broadcasting, or in any way transmitting images or sounds originating in such place which would not ordinarily be audible or comprehensible outside such place.
This would imply that a CCTV camera with a recorder in another room is illegal. What I can't seem to find is any statute referring to a felony. I'm thinking we have another case of idiot cops on a power trip getting caught and digging their hole deeper trying to hide it.
