I don't get the flat design. We have all that graphics capability now, yet are going back to the 80's GUI look? What's next, pixellation? I like shadows and gradations and metals and wood and marble and textures; screw the flat fad. (Excluded temping jokes about "flat chicks".)
And get off my lumpy, textured lawn!
(Well, okay, a Trek NG GUI would be cool...for a while.)
Where are you getting your worker productivity numbers?
And lack of savings doesn't mean capital isn't available. Other countries with higher savings rates can lend to us, for example. Where are getting your "dried-up" info? Wealthy people in China are purchasing houses for rental in my neighborhood, for example.
It is true that many banks are not lending much because they are still paying off the bad loans they made during the Great Mortgage Orgy fad, but we are stuck with the wounds caused by bubbles.
And bubbles are far older than the US such that you cannot blame them on the Fed Reserve. Capitalism hasn't solved the "business cycle" indigestion problem.
I agree it seems we should be seeing the rise of more "indulgence" and customization, but for some reason that is relatively stagnant. The middle class is too pressed to start that trend. We need some kind of force to kickstart both salaries and consumption.
What's so special about NEW companies? Existing companies with similar niches can fill voids if there is a demand. Consumption is the current bottleneck, not ideas nor capital.
(4) Technology giving the masses a life of leisure
It exists. It's called "unemployed and on unemployment". It seems we'll have to seriously consider it "normal" since it does not look like automation and offshoring are shrinking, and no major new source of employment is replacing it.
The right-wing will balk loudly, though, about "freeloaders". But they balk at ALL change; it's the very definition of "conservative" such that I am not being insulting here (unless reading the dictionary is offensive to some).
For more populated areas, computer control would probably be necessary. Would it be perfect? No, but it only has to be comparable to road cars in terms safety. People may even accept a bit more general risk to have them.
If we keep worrying about hackers, we won't progress. The flying cars may need a "panic mode" that basically lets them hover until any navigation-related problem is resolved, perhaps gradually descending to the ground to a spot controlled by the driver (if VTOL, such as Puffin). This sub-system would be separate from the usual control system and based on more hacker-proof and heavily scrutinized code.
Somebody read "Take the" a bit too literally.

Hmmm, can we legalize cannibalism of politicians?

This latest puppy is shittin' all over the carpet.
Steal the dude's house late 2016 and say, "you ain't gonna need it, your billboard says so."
An Asternado hasn't been ruled out. Nor Sharkroids, which is like Goatse x million
It's really 2018, sorry for the miscalc. We'll be more careful next time.

If it's not a road-tested design, one should factor in delays.
Where do I mail my Thank You gift to?
A survey of what's on TV will confirm that.

Sorry, you are making stuff up.

Some inequality is normal and expected. HUGE inequality is risky and ridiculous. Some are so rich they forget how many houses they have.
Some water is good and necessary. Too much water and you drown.
The IRS lost it
All those old Clippy jokes are becoming reality
Let's destroy it by launching dinosaurs at it.
