dont make assumptions. and by your logic it seems you want to outlaw all plastic. I mean you dont use plastic garbage bags right? why would you do such a thing that plastic ends up in the landfill!!!

but yes, i do in fact find a use for all the plastic bags that I get. I also reuse ziplocks when i can and reuse plastic chinese food dishes for bowls at times....

for someone making under 15 grand a year (sadly many americans these days) raising the cost of fuel will destroy them. 10 years ago a gallon of gas in NJ cost me 98 cents a gallon, today that cost is 3.75$. everything else has gone up in price due to higher shipping prices. If anything we need to get the cost of fuel back down to 80s 90 levels, I remember as a kid before I had a car the gas price was pretty much the same within 5-10 cents for the duration of the 90s, now it can change that much overnight, screwing the people who need it the most. Im with you on lower taxes though. The government clearly cant be trusted with our money, as shown by the fact that we are running trillion dollar deficits every year for 5 or 6 years now

I hate to tell you but developing an idea, researching its feasability and bringing it to the market is longer than a 2 year process. no, we need a multi decade process, similar to whats being done in the auto world. Give them 10 15 years to up the MPG numbers and they can do it (sure it costs us 5 grand more per car..... one reason I dont agree with them but I digress)

ill give you just one example on plastic shopping bags. I keep all mine in the pantry and they get used, either as garbage bags for small cans (bathrooms under the desk etc) they get used if i need to grab a few things to go to the beach or somewhere i dont want to bring a real bag with me. They get used to clean up the kitty litter.

just because you or others cant find a good use for a free bag doesnt mean the rest of us cant.

you stop at the DoD??? pfft, the same could be said of ALL federal employees. We could cut the federal government by 90% overnight and the vast majority of americans would not even feel a bee sting out of it. Plain and simple the federal government is suposed to be small, the states are suposed to be the ones with the power. Sometime about 100 years ago (some would argue the progressive movement) things changed and we started giving the federal government more power. First alcohol prohibition (which at least they had the decency to amend the constitution vs what they do these days and just claim power) and so on and so on. to be fair im sure someone will come out with previous abused by the federal government, for example jefferson overstepped when he made the LA purchase, but id say it was between 1915 and 1945 that the country radically changed, and not for the better. well, maybe for the short term but not long term.

Ammend the law so that scenario 2 is not only allowed but encouraged to be spoken about while keeping scenario 2 illegal to talk about.
