  1. Say what? on MS Connects Office and Back-Office Apps · · Score: 2, Funny

After reading the description was anybody else's response "What the freak does that mean?"

  2. 3 simple things to help the propaganda war on Rumsfeld Requests 24-hour Propaganda Machine · · Score: 2, Insightful

1: Put properly trained people in charge of prisoners (no more pictures of naked prisoners and killings/beatings) 2: Stop encarcerating people without a proper trial and without being judged by a jury of their peers 3: Follow the Geneva Convetions completely and unequivocally instead of "for the most part" as Rumsfeld famously stated

  3. My roommate looked into it already on Shortlist of Possible ET Addresses · · Score: 1

My roommate actually spent a couple of hours looking up these solar systems to search for aliens with Celestia before I smacked him upside the head. Please if there are kids reading this, don't drop out of school. *For those of you who don't know, Celestia is software that maps and lets you travel around in space.*

  4. That title is misleading on Toxic Toads Taking Over Australia · · Score: 1

When I first read the title I thought a rebel group of Toxic Toads armed themselves and took over the Australian government.

  5. Re:Lovely Summer Months in Southern Saturn on Massive Lightning Storm on Saturn · · Score: 1

George Carlin said that we can't permanently damage the planet. He acknowledged that we can damage the planet enough to cause the planet to "shake us (humans) off like fleas" and then eventually recover from our being here. The planet and life would go on but humanity and civilization on this planet the way we know it would not be the same.

  6. Google's Style on Google Windows Apps Coming To Linux · · Score: 1

Google has a well deserved reuputation for releaseing apps quickly and efficiently. Having developers port and maintain three different versions of the same program would slow them down. This is why using Wine is a perfect solution for them. They can skip much of the porting issues to quickly and easily release a linux version of their program. It makes sense for Google to contribute to Wine. I personally believe they're all for Linux as long as it doesn't slow them down with other projects too much. I love Linux but we can't blame them. Until the Roman, whoops, I mean Windows Empire is weakened a bit we can expect more of the same. Here's hoping Wine is improved this next year as much as it was last year.

  7. What happened to privacy? on EFF Warns Not to Use Google Desktop · · Score: 2, Interesting

With all the recent commotion about domestic wiretapping without a court order I've developed an instinct to want to protect my privacy. I simply can't stand the idea that even if google as a corporation is doing no evil with the users' data, some evil employee might want to spy on his ex girlfriend or that guy in high school who boinked his first love.

  8. Don't trust articles with no author on No Time Travel, Sorry · · Score: 2, Interesting

The people who wrote this article also wrote this... " I will argue that the messages to the seven churches of Asia are a metaphorical description of the organization and operation of the brain. I will further argue that the golden lampstand (Jewish menorah) symbolizes a seven-node sequence in brain memory." Hmm, it certainly is curious that the author of the article is not revealed. Probably some first year calculus student who was like "Holy guacamole! dt/dt = 1, Einstein and Hawking are crackpots! I must tell the world!"
