Most people who are suicidal or overanxious have good reason to be, and it is only the drug companies' agenda which has pushed society in the direction of "anyone who is suicidal has a mental defect and needs to spend money on drugs"
"Differing from the accepted norm" is never equivilent to "wrong". If you want to kill yourself, we as society will encourage you not to. But, trying to alter someone's brain directly is immoral. It doesnt matter if "nothing else works". If a suicidal person can't be convinced to not kill themselves no matter how long or hard you try, maybe it's you with your "I think life is worth living no matter what anyone else says" attitude which needs to reexamine your presuppositions.
if there's only a handful of hits, I go through them all. If there are thousands of hits I guess that the first few are bogus and skip down a few hundred
SA Is persistent now? Did they release a new version or something? Wake me up when the pile of cars I spent an hour stacking on top of eachother in beautiful flaming glory doesnt go away when I turn around.
Does it hurt your brain to twist it around into that kind of position? If you strip commercials out of things and distribute those things to other people, you're a theif. This says nothing of legality. This says nothing of having commercials play while you ignore them. This in no way implies any contractual obligation. This is just about you being a theif. Torrents of other people's content are not a "grey area", they are solid black. You do it, I do it, that's beside the point. Don't pretend you're being morally ambiguous when you're stealing.
this moderation brought to you by AutoMod! Why bother the tedius process of reading posts when AutoMod will:
- Detect availability of mod points
- Home in on words like "Nigger" or "Microsoft" [note the careless use of the "s" character!]
- Moderate "appropriately"
Comes with a handy guide to moderating things as "Troll" vs "Flamebait", "Off-topic" or "Overrated". [ Chapter one: "If you don't get it, it's a troll!" Chapter two: "If you disagree, it's a flamebait!" ]
looking back on it, I can see that "large cement blocks" could be interpreted as a theft-prevention method. However, I meant it only as an example of something utterly useless (serving zero function, intended or otherwise) which no rational consumer (or producer, for that matter) would actually want.
Which is fine so long as it has zero legal backing. If I only want to sell lawnmowers which are chained to large cement blocks, that's fine. The market will probably eliminate such idiocy. If I want to make it illegal for people to remove cement blocks from their lawnmowers, or to sell lawnmowers which do not contain cement blocks, or to distribute bolt-cutters, I should be executed for treason.
True enough, I would not have bought it in a store if I knew I'd be required to go through that kind of BS. But then, I bought it online like everybody else.
Am I the only one who doesnt mind commercials? I have the remarkable ability to ignore some things. I don't compulsively buy everything that's shoved in front of me. Commercials are targetted at whatever demographic is most likely to watch a show- if I don't like the commercials, I probably wont like the show that runs between them, either.
I am annoyed by all these torrent sites which strip out the commercials.. why not just not be a theif? I'm willing to watch commercials, I just dont want to be awake at all hours of the night for the priviledge.
Yes. You can't develop encryption without homeland security going after you. Of course, you can't develop an unencrypted system without the RIAA going after you.
yeah, I dont know if I made clear, 59.94 is my total bill, including basic cable. (hard to infer, since it actually costs more total if you dont get both)
Well, if you know, don't just say "I know", enlighten us. Not saying I dont believe you, I just have no idea what kind of different we're talking about.
I pay $59.94 for cable internet, cable internet by itself (without cable tv) was quoted to me as "$61"
I've recently seen speed of.. well it's saying 300Kbps right now.. I don't actually believe that (maybe caching something, like it does..) My estimate of a closer average peak is 128Kbps. Average speed is probably 30Kbps (of course, there's also http://www.dslreports.com/ , if you want a less "uhhh.. I/guess/.." answer about that point)
If it's GPL'd, then no proprietary drivers. That's pretty much the purpose of the GPL.
People who say "as you so eloquently put it" probably think they are being eloquent through use of the word "eloquent".

I dont think "funny" is quite appropriate.. but at the worst I'd say "off-topic", not troll.

I can't wait 'till this is delayed because they need to take some violence and sexual content out instead of because "it doesnt exist"

Look! It's somebody who DOESNT GET IT BUT THINKS HE DOES!
What a rare and unique creature!
Thanks, whoever modded this as off-topic :)

[insert joke about the existence of D&D players' girlfriends here]
[remark about how witty and original I am]
I've had to re-arrange my budget because the only game in town is on the other side of it: Dungeons and Dragons is the cause of the war in Iraq.
I intend to completely abuse "free mobile-to-mobile calling" in an effort to play Dungeons and Dragons 24/7/365. Who's with me?

The revolution will be commercialized.
