Nintendo did not create the Power Glove. It was made by Mattel.

  2. PS3 as DVD player on Another Sony Format Bites the Dust · · Score: 1

While it's likely the PS3 is going to sell pretty well (depending on how much it retails for), it's not likely going to replace anybody's DVD player. Nearly everybody already has a DVD player hooked up that they like, have the remote for, are used to, etc. They're not going to suddenly start using the PS3 as their new DVD player unless they want to trade up to Blu-Ray. If the user has an HD TV and wants to watch Blu-Ray movies on it, that's one thing. But most people are going to see, for example, King Kong on DVD for $15 and on Blu-Ray for $25 and pass on the Blu-Ray version because they're satisfied with the DVD version or they still have an older TV. Blu-Ray is basically pointless for people without HDTVs, meaning NEARLY EVERYONE.

  3. The theater experience on Theaters Unhappy About Faster DVD Releases · · Score: 1
I'm tired of people whining about how much the theater rips you off and how much they prefer watching movies on their home theater or pirating them off the Web.

Of course there are inconveniences at the theater, but it's not much different than going to a restaurant. At a restaurant, you pay a higher price for the same food you can (with some effort) prep yourself and eat at home for much less. We don't complain that the $20 T-bone at a steakhouse is more expensive than the $7 T-bone at the grocery store. We don't stop eating out because of the rude people at the table next to you. We don't come to message boards and brag about how we jacked the pizza guy instead of paying for the pizza.

I have a 53" inch TV at home, but it cannot come close to comparing to seeing the same movie on a 50-foot screen. I love going to the movies. Since I was a kid, I've always looked forward to going to the theater. Seeing the posters for coming attractions, smelling the buttery popcorn in the lobby, watching trailers and anticipating the movies you'll be looking forward to, seeing the action on a huge screen.

Watching a movie at home cannot compare to the moviegoing experience and never will.

  4. Re:Simple formula on Movies Losing Popularity at Box Office · · Score: 1

I hope that some movie theaters adopt cell phone blocking technology. The theater should make it official policy, with posters, signs, pre-movie ads, etc, that inform people that this theater disables cell phone signals inside each screen.. Most people turn off their cell phones before the movie begins anyway, so this will only weed out those who find it acceptable to treat a public movie theater like their living room, oblivious to the fact that they're being incredibly rude to everyone trying to enjoy the movie. If you're expecting an important call, don't go see a movie at this particular theater. Of course, emergencies happen in which someone may need to contact you immediately, but the occasion of calls like that are extremely rare. Most of us got along just fine without cell phones ten years ago. I think we can get by without them for two hours when we're at the movies.

The budget for The Chronicles of Narnia was really close, at $180 million.

  6. Bypass the RIAA on RIAA: Ripping CDs to iPod not 'Fair Use' · · Score: 2, Insightful

You can continue to buy CDs, just seek out artists that are not part of RIAA labels. Support real musicians, not the mass-market garbage that's force-fed to us through corporate radio and MTV.
