How the fuck was this a troll???? If you have a car like the G-WIZ, a car that has been proven to be a less then quality vehicle, I would think in part replacement alone it would be a bad choice. Sure it won't put out the emissions of a SUV, but if compared to other cars it wouldn't be that great a advantage environmentally in the long run with all things considered.

Look, the french are not exactly known for thinking things through. THAT's a troll!!!

There are MANY lithium batteries that contain a liquid, not just lead acid batteries.

If the G-WIZ was a costly vehicle, then I say all would be fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was using NiCd or NiMH batteries. All are pretty nasty if they catch fire and melt regardless of if the contain liquids or solids.

Top Gear had one hit a stationary table at 10mph. It destroyed the front end and cracked the battery open which began to leak something. The announcer even pointed it out. That and sub 10mph is unrealistic at best even in paris traffic unless they have the worst traffic in the world, which they don't. More like 25 or 30 which can be catastrophic for the G-WIZ.

I read the garage door opener and was excited to see how it worked. It involves hooking a Linux box up to your door opener that is connected to the internet. That is kind of lame , certainly in environments where it would be impossible to put a pc in essentially a outdoor setting and I would suspect it wouldn't be that hard to do on other smart phones.

They predicted the same thing this last summer, though it was only for a week. They said that the northern light would be visible much further south then normal. Was in northern Michigan and saw nothing in the week that I was there, even setting a alarm to wake up at times they said the lights would be visible.

Was a little maddening since I had told others that they would be visible.

Yeah but if you drive a G-WIZ like the article suggested and get in a accident you will spill the contents of the batteries on to the road way because it is a death trap that falls apart on impact. So all that saved "upstream" will be lost in whatever battery chemicals are spilled in accidents, which in a city like Paris I would think would be many per day.

They have some stand alone DVR's on the market that might be cheaper then the HTPC option, but with a HTPC you could also use it to steam a lot of different video to your tv without having to worry if it is blocked like more and more media devices are becoming to certain sites. Large drives are cheap that adding more space is a easy option.
