I actually think this is a step in the right direction. They should make it something that can't be tampered with by anyone, police or otherwise. I'm not sure how it works over in the UK but that kind of footage could be subpoenaed in the US if it's available and used for your defense, so it wouldn't be a tool only for police officers. If police are often reporting malfunction or missing footage in cases where their work ethic is being called into question, surely that can't look good for long in a court of law.
Wish we could see 6 years of advancement in file compression technology with FLAC. I know space is on the cheap these days, but that doesn't mean we should just keep inflating files more and more. As much as I do appreciate FLAC, when it's virtually impossible to tell the difference between a 6MB file and a 24MB file, it starts to feel a bit wasteful, especially when the source was something like a compact disc to begin with.
Where the hell did you get that idea from? Are we not talking about it now?
We're only talking about it now because someone cracked the joke. That's the point. Had no one said anything, prison rape would be furthest from our minds, unless we personally know someone in such a predicament.
And why would they waste time an effort over something so ultimately pointless? It's actually amusing hearing everyone rip on the BBC for not wanting to waste money on a worthless webpage clock.
Your story rings similar to mine. We haven't gotten married yet (known her for several years and been together for almost as long) and I didn't meet her on a dating website but a regular forum that I co-ran. Same kind of girl as mine. The whole depression angle seems to be a common one when you get into relationships online.
It's not being obfuscated to hide the code, it's being obfuscated to minimize the size. They don't need an extra 20 kilobytes of whitespace and long variable names with comments. It's surprising just how much bandwidth this sort of method reduces in heavy load websites.
I disagree with this assessment. Yes, there are an uncountable number of WoW clones out there, but there are many games that are trying to break the classic MMO mold that Blizzard essentially set the gold standard to, with varying degrees of success.
Now is an exciting time for MMOs with more and more of them taking on more action oriented combat and stepping outside of what we consider traditional.
I think Blizzard just created a target they are not even sure they can even beat themselves.
It always amuses me when someone comments on the latest expansion being "King Fu Panda in WoW," as if Blizzard actually didn't already have these creatures and their style many years before that movie was even a script being pitched to a studio.
...Really? You're making a tremendous leap to that conclusion. You think ultimately slight performance gains in OpenGL over another OS is enough to convince all the software developers out there to switch to Linux? Just because OpenGL performs a little better? Are you honestly that daft?
Except it doesn't repel half their target market.
It didn't. My post was merely wishing that it was smaller.
Console exclusive.

There were/are MUSHes out there that would terrify you to the core.
Being delusional about your own appearance definitely breeds this mentality.
That is nonsense.

You should probably learn how to read usernames.
I don't think you can really shrug that one off as just a bad joke. That was a pretty big whoosh.
This is the answer right here.
It was honestly embarrassing reading this article.

I was really hoping that was what Titan was going to be, before they announced it would be an entirely new bit of IP.

No, actually, they didn't. You and many other individuals misunderstand the purpose of that site.
It wasn't so much trolling as a light jab in reference to the source engine being ported over.
Indeed, it's cool that Linux now has access to some new 7-9 year old games.
It's an argument for using Linux, sure, but not a good one. Especially on its merits alone.
