That may be the case, but it doesn't excuse the fact that we're all (at least in the United States) governed by the same set of laws. It doesn't matter whether you're some punk "fighting the man" or a kid who grew up being treated the way you were. If you'd done what this kid did you'd have dealt with the same punishment.
We're supposed to feel sorry for him (or you) because you're different? Please...
The only way it will affect Mactel sales is if the solution is A: easy to install, and B: widely publicized (and accessible) to users outside the slashdot regulars. If it isn't easy to use (or appears like a hack), your average Mac buyer will steer clear.
For me, I'm more than happy dual-booting Linux on my MBP.
And I want my five seconds back for reading your comment. A remote control doesn't have intelligence of its own, so it cannot be "stupid." I think what you meant to say is "a stupidly designed remote control." You're entitled to that opinion, but it doesn't make the opinions expressed in the article worthless. The only worthless part of this little ditty is the headline/summary of the article.

If it's not a big deal, why did Microsoft make an announcement at all? They could have let the date pass without saying anything.

Shouldn't the question be "Which is right for your project?"
