I agree, there is a lot of linux documentation online, my main server is an Irix SGI but have several Linux/Windows/MacOSX boxes. Whenever I have to read up on something a lot of the google hits I get are for Linux, I am now well used to man'ing to work out the OS differences and get what I need done. I have found that whenever you have a problem someone else has usually been there and Linux users are very good at sharing this sort of information.
What Microsoft haven't told you is that the $50 covers the cost of delivery of 1 chair. This seating apparatus is then applied vigorously to the infected PC and hey presto no more malware, spyware, viruses etc. Of course the PC is rendered unusable but you feel much better and your online bank accounts are safe from the hordes of criminals who would otherwise have robbed you blind.
I am a sys admin for a large pre-press/print company, we have 150+ PC's and 80 or so Macs at 2 sites, neither users gets admin rights to their machines. In my experience Mac users are just as prone to screw their machines as PC ones. Since we locked everything down my life has been a great deal easier.
Having said that we have a few PC's running a few flavours of printer RIP software that do not work without admin rights and as a result fall over more regularly, usually due to some crap that someone installed.
I don't think for 1 minute that 'Jobs' has ever paid any heed to the drivel Dvorak produces on a regular basis.
But 100-150K isn't a bad return for said drivel.
I'm sure he will retire a happy man (probably buy himself a nice Macbook with the proceeds, if he hasn't got one already!).
1st post btw.:P
Oh wait!

Just a thought, and I am well out of my league here, but I think 'colonising' an object several times the mass of Jupitor might be a bit tricky.

Vista might be released before the next big bang.
