For a period of one month, all filters on spam and spam hunting should be suspended. Part of the problem is that anti-spam activities are masking the true magnitude of the problem. A wake-up call is needed. When people realize just how much spam is being sent out, the villagers will take to the streets with pitchforks and torches.
Sorry, you don't get to redefine liberal. ITs already been done.
By Conservatives. I don't consider them experts on the subject by any means.
Actually "Liberal" is what is now known as libertarian.
In some senses you are correct, but not entirely. I don't think there's a single party out there that corners the market in liberalism.
You want to say liberal has some specific definition, then fine: I'm willing to hear it.
Definitions 1 and 2 from the encyclopedia linked through google:
1. Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
2. Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
liberalism is about why liberals support government spending
Liberalism has nothing to do with government spending, but with the definitions I gave above. The problem that I have with some parts of Libertarianism is that government spending tends to be uttered in the same breath as the word "wasteful" which is sometimes true, and sometimes not true. Knee jerk reactions and unconsidered judgements of government spending aren't what I consider to be particularly insightful, or helpful.
You certainly don't get to claim that liberalism is about freedom and human rights when so many liberal organizations come down squarely in opposition to freedom and human rights.
Which ones? If the organizations oppose human rights they cannot be liberal.
That doesn't clarify liberalism, that just repeats liberalism's Great Lie.
That's nothing but jingoism.
I met Tom Harkin once. He's a liberal for sure. He's pro union. He's an example that supports my statement, not a contrary one.
Oh yea, I remember President Harkin. His pro-union platform really took him a long way. Amazing how supporting unions allowed him to beat out Dukakis for the nomination and then go on to beat GHWB at the polls to become our president. Er, wait, actually Harkin had his ass kicked quite badly. My bad.
Isn't the Libertarian party fond of saying that the Repubs and the Crats are just two sides of the same coin, offering no real choice? Then why do you continually hold up Democrats as ideals of Liberalism? I've already mentioned that I don't consider the Democratic party very liberal at all. Argue the issues and facts, not the personalities. Tom Harkin isn't liberalism. If Harkin is an idiot (and he is) then that doesn't mean that liberals are also idiots (they are not).
Now, having said all that, this liberal Texas resident will most likely be voting for the Libertarian in the next governor's election. That's because our current governor actually led a prayer in a public school, and the democratic candidate supports school prayer. I don't care what other qualifications a person might have - first and foremost our elected officials must obey and understand the law of the land. The libertarian candidate here is running on a 1st ammendment platform of separation of church and state. Therefore, Jeff Daiell will get my liberal vote.
I notice that your website is located on Christmas Island, so your native language is probably whatever Santa Claus speaks (German? Elvish?) and not English, so I am happy to help you learn.
So, I don't think characterizing liberals in general as supporting unions is that unfair.
It's no more unfair than characterizing Libertarians as the party that cares first and foremost about seatbelts and motorcycle helments.
Tom Harkin was probably one of the Democratic Party's most pro-union people. And look where that got him. And that doesn't even address the fact that the Democratic Party is hardly liberal. Conservatives generally cry 'liberal' so often about so many different things that it's clear that they have no idea what liberal means.
Democracy is liberal. The bill of rights is liberal. The constitution is liberal. The space program is liberal. So is the National Endowment for the Arts. And the Smithsonian Institution. And the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. So was the Italian Rennaissance. And universal education. and on and on and on.
If I misrepresented you by being overly general, I apologize.
That's cool, but you actually weren't being general enough. I am sick to death of people saying that liberals are idiots and morons, and just want to give away fish rather than teach people to fish. The ironic thing is that everyone who blames the damn liberals for everything that's wrong with this country doesn't understand what liberalism is!
Well, I guess that turned into a pretty good rant...
Even better would be to make a driver that hooks up to/dev/blowjob. As long as you read from that device, it delivers a snippet over and over again. Why waste the disk space?
Remember, a lynching mob is pure majority rule in action. Quite a lot of people have absolute no moral problems at all with stem cell research. So when you say that there are deep moral problems with it, you're just projecting a specific prejudice onto the problem.
We won't know if these planes are any good until we can do a double blind study to see if these new planes can kill people more efficiently than the older types of planes. Of course, it's a bit difficult to do a double blind study, because it would require the people killed to actually not know they are dead! Taking care of the researchers is easier; we can hire a bunch of those civil war re-enactors to pretend to be dead (or not!). Well, since it's hard to do a proper double blind study, we'll just have to settle for several single blind studies and work some magic with statistics.
Anyone got a problem with that? NO SIR! Good, you are dismissed.
The only reasonable response to such a threat is to tell them to piss off and to never enter your property again. Then go tell the employees that you are willing to listen to employee issues but you will not deal with terrorists and thugs.
What are you, a damn liberal? You get out the damn firehoses and hose down those dirty unwashed scumbags until they get back to work. You shoot the ones that cause trouble, beat the rest, and cut their pay. They ought to be happy just having a job.
I wasn't trolling, the moderators are just idiots.
All your points are well taken, but I disagree with you that criticism of others is necessary for competition. Maybe *you* should brush up on it, and you might get rid of the misconception.
People who are in the public eye don't improve their image by being catty. The only way to rise above cattyness is to be really really good at what you do and ignore everything that you might consider lesser than you. That's part of a formula for a good public image.
We should all start using the terms "electronic telegram" for e-mail, "electronic brain" for computer, and "electric papyrus horseless carriageway" for the Internet. These are all considered modern terms.
That's completely fair. I think it's in extremely poor taste for an artist to comment on another in a public way. If the Beatles came out with a statement that said the Rolling Stones suck, it wouldn't matter if they were right or wrong. They would just look like idiots for saying it.
All that Brin has done is invite every REAL sci-fi author to slap him down hard for being the horrible writer that he is.
The question of American vs. Indian is one of moral neutrality, therefore, it is irrelevant to a moral decision. If a particular launch gives some jobs, and somewhere else there are jobs lost, that must be weight on its own merits, independant of the nationality where the jobs were lost.
Concern over American jobs in particular is also morally neutral. Americans perceive it to be good to be concerned about American jobs. Does it therefore mean that Indians being concerned about Indian jobs is bad? That is the implication when nationality is included.
The conclusion is that slogans such "buy American" (or "buy North American" if you're Canadian) are just evidence of jingoism. Truthfully, a judgement such as "good" or "bad" cannot be made here on a rational basis.
But this still doesn't mean that Escursion you're looking at is a good thing to buy! I should tell us that even if we can't seem to get our shit together as a united species on a dinky little planet, we can still do positive things like reduce CFC's. So think about that before you buy that new truck.
I'm running a Z-80 computer system (1 Mhz) and I was wondering if I should upgrade to the new Z-80B processor. They go 2.5 Mhz, and supposedly really scream. But is the extra speed worth the $4 that the new processor would cost? Thanks.
Better than Pascal - Modula-2! The language is still very simple, but allows separate compilation. Students that learn Modula-2 won't need to move to another language as they become more advanced. It's been 13 years since I touched Modula-2 and I still miss it.

The first one to find a spammer gets to name it. Well, maybe not such a good idea after all...

"Than thought" is the correct phrase.
You are mistaken. I think you're actually referring to John Ashcroft.
Does Unisys have a patent on this?
So, I don't think characterizing liberals in general as supporting unions is that unfair.

I'm just ragging on you because you used the conservative bogeyman "the liberal". I'm a liberal, but I'm not a union fan for the most part.

It's OK for fans of a genre/author to comment, but not other people who also work in the same field?
That's right.
Imagine this:
Michael Jackson: Bon Jovi Sucks!
In this case, we'd all think MJ was an idiot for criticizing another musician.
Now, imagine this:
Michael Jackson Fan: Bon Jovi Sucks!
No big deal. A fan can declare that they like or hate something freely.
That's completely fair. I think it's in extremely poor taste for an artist to comment on another in a public way. If the Beatles came out with a statement that said the Rolling Stones suck, it wouldn't matter if they were right or wrong. They would just look like idiots for saying it.

That's backwards. The statement is "IP on Everything".
If you're thinking of marking this as a flame, take the time to research the T-shirt that the inventor of IP likes to wear. Guess what it says?

I'd give up my computer to keep high speed access.
Yes, that's correct, and worded more succinctly.
But this still doesn't mean that Escursion you're looking at is a good thing to buy! in some parts of the world.
JESUS CHRIST just how big is that thing?
