If you think about it, everything is focusing far more on graphics and eyecandy than ever before. Films concentrate less on plot and just go for over-the-top special effects, even everyday objects go for looks over useability. People seem to be so obsessed with something looking nice that they don't think to find out if it's actually any good or not.
To be honest, the Lords will probably stop this law straight off, since it certainly isn't in their best interests. If the Parliament Act is brought in, there truly will be outcry since this is the passing of a law that will devastate civil liberties unless this law is restricted only to minute things that have little effect on the world outside of the Commons. Hopefully, Tony Blair will step down as PM some time soon, let Gordon Brown take over then a Tory government can reclaim power once the next elections come along.
Maybe it's just me who finds small things annoying to use. Usually, I'm always afraid that I'll break it as well. I normally have at least three pockets if I'm going out, so I'm never pushed for space. Each to their own, I guess.
"My phone is the thinnest in the world, can take photos with a 1.5 Megapixel camera and can store hundreds of MP3s!"
"Mine phones people."
Simply put, why bother doing all these silly additions and leave the photos to cameras and music to MP3 players? Besides, why does a phone need to be that thin anyway? It makes it harder to hold and it's much easier to break. Then again, I'm a rather grumpy old git on the inside.
I'd think that this argument depends on the computer's usage. Sudo is much better for the average desktop computer or a small network, since it means that you can leave the computer logged in without any worries about someone messing it up, whereas being logged in as root could be hazardous. Of course, anyone who walks away from a computer logged in as root without locking it or anything doesn't deserve those privaledges.
The only one who is a tight-fisted git and buys really cheap stuff? It's exactly the same, just with a different logo on and slightly less sound quality. Does the job just fine and means I have more money to spend on those emails from nice people telling me how to get a bigger penis.
To be honest, Dapper is very stable and polished already. There's mixed reactions over the new Clearlooks scheme they've implemented but overall, it's turning out very well. I can't speak for the localisation issues, but a stable release is much better than a rushed release. If you want to try Dapper, Flight 5 should be just fine.

Who'd have thought pigs would have evolved to grow wings, eh?

No innovation from indie games, eh?
