Quite frankly, the answer is "long-term thinking" vs "short-term thinking". An employee can either cost me $1000 or $1700. Which would I rather pay?
The same kind of thinking that makes a manager say "If I can save $10,000 , then that's a good thing. It's going to cost someone else $25,000 , but that money isn't *my* money, so it's still a savings."
I'm sorry to break it to you, but I was just watching a documentary about prehistoric times. The story centered around a couple named Fred and Wilma. Not only did they have a pet dinosaur, but they interacted with dinosaurs on a regular basis -- public transportation, household appliances, heavy machinery.
I have (or had) one, and liked it, but I can't find it. I got tired of being stared at on the Washington DC subway with a large round thing in my hands making a loud whirring grinding noise. It's in a closet somewhere.
Did it actually help? I don't honestly know. It felt good.
"My Ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce. All I have left are my bones."
That quote was one of the many many reasons I hated that movie. "Gee, we need to force a perfectly reasonable medical nickname onto this character. Is this mallet large enough?"
Yes. Go to the IRS web site http://www.irs.gov . At the bottom right, where it says "Visit Other Sites", click on "U. S. Treasury" (which, by the way, is the parent organization of the IRS).
It's usually for either tracking, or for displaying a disclaimer "You are about to leave our web site. Nothing you see is under our control. Do you wish to continue?"
I'm not sure I'd call it a "f'up"... imagine if it were your job to maintain a complete authoritative list of every external web site that labor.vermont.gov links to.
It's certainly becoming a problem; I'm just saying that "A page the redirects wherever it needs to redirect to" was probably the goal, not the side-effect.
Somebody's going to mod me down, but I'm dead serious. This is the second time a company I worked for has moved to a new location with no storage space for anything at all -- HR documents, financial documents, machinery (both active and surplus), office supplies, even employee's coats. Let me assure you how professional it looks to have random file cabinets placed all over what are supposed to be ADA-compliant-width hallways. </sarc>
That's kind of the whole point. You can't claim to be in favor of "free speech" if what you really mean is "free speech for me and those who agree with my views."
I'm a very happy DynDNS customer paying for a small assortment of DynDNS services. But I probably wouldn't be if they hadn't started me off with a few free Dynamic DNS hostnames as a loss-leader.
it's simply not important what version you're using as long as it's the latest version.
It's vitally important what version I'm using. I want/need to be using the latest version that supports the plugins that I need to use and the services I need to connect to.
Waaah. I don't want to be a well-rounded person able to hold an intelligent conversation with the people around me. I just want to single-minded-ly pursue learning only the few things I want to learn, and not be bothered with knowing anything else. If somebody makes a reference to Big Brother or Jesus or Ahab, I can just look it up on Wikipedia later.
One of the things that happens in college is Growing Up. I highly recommend it.
Does anybody happen to know why 25 May is Towel Day, as opposed to the more meaningful 11 May (2 weeks earlier), the anniversary of his death? Or his birthday?

You're still missing the part that not everybody was forced to wear them.
Well, it's the problem that destroyed the WKRP in Cincinnati (and Daria) DVD release. Whether or not it destroyed the original show, I don't know.
Websites seriously implement such a warning?

Ditto. No problems downloading, installing, or using NVidia drivers.
And I use Slackware.
Because fvwm does exactly what I want it to and need it to.
Hey!!! Everybody!!! Look at me!!! I'm relevant!!! Over here!!! Look at meeeee!!!

Didn't I see the exact opposite article yesterday?
Second for dyndns.
I was just about to point out that I had to revert to Firefox 5.X because Firefox 6 broke a web site I need.
Then I read this:
the ability to use Twitter as a default search engine,
and I'm seriously wondering why I don't run Opera or Chrome.
Oh, right. FoxyProxy is the reason why I don't run Opera or Chrome.
You're saying that any person who writes software is automatically required to provide lifetime support of said software?
I like that idea.
If even the dev abandons it, give me one rationalization or justification why the users shouldn't follow their lead and also abandon it..
Because it works?
Because it does what it's supposed to do, in a clean, efficient, and predictable manner?
Because there isn't anything better?
I personally use tons of software that has been abandoned by its developers. That doesn't mean the software is broken.
the add-on developer should maintain the add-on and update its max-version

There's a difference between influencing the voters how to vote (legal) and influencing the voters not to vote (illegal).
You've never heard of BCC ?
