So, I am ignorant on this , when you say "now open source", what do you mean? I tried the link but it was hard to find anything about the license used, so, do you know what sort of license is Adobe using for these 'open source' things?
The final result will not be announced (or leak) before sometime early next week.
I wonder how the guy manages to know in advance it will not leak.
The coverage kind of sucks, I was hoping this story to link to some dynamic site that would get updated quite regularly, instead it is yet another blog post that gets updated manually... I think we had many of those already, I also like openmalaysia's better.
If they said that people would be screaming bloody murder in opposition to this article's idea. Mostly because they are radically opposite things to do. With one you can keep your freedom, or you can lose it with a cost if you want, while in the other, nobody gets the freedom.
Back in the time when MS was hit hard because of forcing IE on windows users, you could have bought a PC without windows or a Mac, that possibility existed... The thing was that they had a monopoly on the OS business, which is not really different to Apple's monopoly on the portable music player business... Is it?
Microsoft is already testing 'pay as you go' consumer subscriptions in developing countries."
!"#"$% so their solution for developing countries is to make us pay more and it would work like if you are renting a computer from MS, great MS, thank you!
You sorta said that the "only" part of the IT world that hates MS is the whole conglomerate of people and companies outside MS' business, it is odd you concluded MS hate is not that widespread when, considering the things you mentioned it might make more sense to conclude the opposite. I mean, you just mentioned a heck load of people there...
So, what's the problem exactly? I think they are complaining that sponsored ads appear even when you used site: and the ad points to another site. If I remember correctly this is not new. IT is not aggressive either since google makes it very clear about what is an sponsored result and what isn't
It is just an easier interface to site:, I guess, perhaps they thought it was a new, aggressive feature because they previously didn't know about site:'s behavior with sponsored sites and this new feature made them notice about that?
"University of Pennsylvania tech staffers are advising faculty and students not to upgrade their computers to the new service pack for Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system.
Does this mean they actually recommended or supported vista? yiuck...
I see KDE fans love to use this excuse but it still is nothing but a excuse, KDE itself is mostly the same across distros, with mild differences in hardware support, I ended up liking Kubuntu the other day and I am planning to move when hardy gets released.
Flash drives got the potential to be a lot more durable, I am not too worried about the hard drive sound itself, but what the sound means, the sound means it is a mechanical device and it is dying an slow death... With flash drives, that's not an issue and thus I think we only need more development to be made and they will get very durable.
What took my windows dislike to critical mass was the fact windows XP was beginning to require a lot of maintenance from me, since there were too many USB flash disk viruses around and no anti virus was helping me against them (It is a shared computer, so my brother kept bringing those) So, I decided that it was easier to get used to ubuntu than to find your system unusable after a virus hit it and you have to spend a couple of hours cleaning the darn virus instead of doing urgent tasks.
They could just release specs, or how about common sense suddenly stroke hardware developers and they would invent spec standards for every device? Sounds soooo hard to wish for since they all simply don't care on the costumer or clean competition, but still...
1. Acknowledge you can't innovate.
2. Buy company that innovates.
3. Charge a heck load of money for prior innovation.
4. Company stops innovating.
5. Repeat.
Sorry but this is about the second time the Linux foundation issues a terrible statement like that, I still got a grudge after the "Linux users must respect Microsoft even though Microsoft certainly doesn't respect Linux users" one.

Yes, but the point remains, it is easier to forget about creative, vista or both. Dunno why vista fans get moderating rights lately.
If they said that people would be screaming bloody murder in opposition to this article's idea. Mostly because they are radically opposite things to do. With one you can keep your freedom, or you can lose it with a cost if you want, while in the other, nobody gets the freedom.
That's quite a conspiracy theory.
Available options besides hacking the darn driver:
- 1. Don't use Vista.
- 2. Don't buy creative
- 3. Don't do either
Plenty of options... I'd be inclined towards option 3.Report suggests that apple might be a music player monopoly.
Report suggests that tobacco might be dangerous to health.
Report suggests that OOXML might not be an open standard.
Report suggests that PHP might not be the best alternative for desktop application development.
So, you don't use it when you browse porn, duh?
IS this topic proof slashdotters never RTFA ?
Yes, it is different to windows and IE...
... On second thought: No, it isn't.

Yeah, too many open tabs... Sorry.

So, the iPod enforces iTunes in an abusive way thanks to their firmware encryption and other tricks on their latest models.
And now iTunes enforces Safari... Something is telling me Apple is gonna be hit hard for this one.

Perhaps for the same reason they changed the rules for the BRM vote.

Nobody is asking them to write the drivers.

Yes, also other than the part for which your post is different to a previous post it is exactly the same as a previous post.
With some luck, this will stop apple from using iTunes but not from selling the iPod.

What's worse is that this is a smoke screen, since such Linux foundation statement will probably be echoed much more than SFLC's recent statement about the MS' (bogus) patent promise .
