Lots of geeks, normally male, suffer autistic like symptoms. The most commonly complained about skills with geeks is their lack of social and communication skills. Your examples in the above post illustrate your lack some of these important social skills. By the way they are not actually hard to learn if they don't come naturally.
ALL women complain about how they get treated by their husbands but I've never heard a women whose husband looks after the children i.e. gets up in the night without complaining & tends to them if they are crying, complain about their husband in a nasty way. The most common complaint I've heard from women and one reason they want a divorce is when they have a baby or young children the husband doesn't understand that the kids take over your entire life, and continues to try and act in the way he did before. Yes you have work commitments but now you have a kid or two, so that means neither of you are getting much leisure time and sleep so grow up and deal with it.
Did you actually explain to your wife repeatedly in language that she understood what you did do pay your side of the bills? If you did and she didn't understand then you should NOT have married her in the first place. Sorry to be so harsh but if you get hitched or stay in long term relationship with someone, and they don't let you bitch and moan about your job then you shouldn't be with them.
On most of the mailing lists and forums I frequent, I have noticed this from a lot of newbies: 1. They are unable to use google 2. They are unable to use the search facility on forums and mailing list archives. 3. They are unable/unwilling to provide specific details about their problem i.e. the graphic card they are using 4. They are unable/unwilling to type a command into a terminal and paste/type the output as requested by the person who is trying to help them.
The newbie then flames the entire board/list or the person trying to help them simply because of their inability to search and find their question has been asked 10 times already with answers they have not tried, or because they cannot follow simple instructions.
I'm actually surprised that so many linux users bother to spend their FREE time replying to so many posts in the polite way they do.
Also a lot of newbies post their messages to the wrong forum or list, and then get upset if their messages are moved or they are told this is the wrong list.
...And unsurprisingly the people who write fluent English are the worse.
Business users will still use MS office because as the saying goes "No one ever got sacked for using MS"
The change will only start coming when you get kids using oo. This will when more departments in colleges/universities/schools start using it, the kids think it's a normal product and demand it's installed it at home as well. When they eventually get to work they will be peeved if they can't use it.
To counteract this MS will give away free software to schools and increasing the educational discount they give.
No it doesn't.
In the last area I lived in I never saw hind or hair of the local Blarite MP until election day. The guy did nothing for the local people, didn't respond to the local press and didn't answer any letters. He thought he was in a safe consituency but it only took 6.4% of the consituents to vote for anybody else and he was out.
