Who said anything about "NEVER makes an assumption"?? I said, "Science however, with its continual testing and self-criticism, does count as credible evidence" [when compared to the evidence of an inferred age of the earth based on the genealogies in a book].
No, "evidence" really is the issue. And we often get to evidence by way of testimony in which case you have to find a way of discerning the credibility of the person (or institution or book) doing the testifying.
Sadly, a book that *infers* that a list of genealogies adds up to ~6000 years doesn't count as credible evidence.
Science however, with its continual testing and self-criticism, does count as credible evidence.
Hmmmm, good point. Perhaps we should throw out every court case as well. If they accused says they didn't do it who are we to argue? Their word is obviously equally as compelling as their fingerprints on the gun, the spatters on their clothing and the CCTV footage of them hiding the body.
I agree. Deja Vu is a fantastic font. I was especially impressed with the condensed versions but notice that they're now missing from recent distributions of Ubuntu.
I'm a Linux guy and I'm also a typography guy and I have to say that while I *want* these fonts to do well they don't quite cut it. Check out the uppercase 'P' compared to the lowercase 'p'.
I'm a web developer too and, although I am totally Linux-based, IE costs me (and the companies I contract to) thousands of dollars every year. It's pretty much totally CSS. It's pretty much totally ASS.
Yeah but why the hell would you say it comes with Linux if you were wanting to run away with the money? Surely you'd be better off saying it comes with Vista Home and put the price up to $250? The Linux community is typically more jaded than the Microsoft Home User community.
So... if you want to discuss your illegal items it would be better to design your site in Flash?

Bollicks.
The concept of a GUI works well. Many may not have been well implemented in the past but that doesn't make them all bad.
Key strokes are by far the better option in many cases once you are familiar with the application but if you're new to an application a GUI is the best thing for discoverability. There's nothing more frustrating than having a black screen with a flashing cursor and having absolutely NO idea what commands will make it do stuff.
Humans are generally pretty good at spatial thinking.
IMO the key to a good GUI is a good, clean layout that works with both mouse and keyboard. Obviously there are lots of other devices (future ones too) but, for me, at this stage those are the two biggies.
Also, as an aside, a spreadsheet IS a GUI and a pretty good example at that.
Forget transient paper - someone needs to sort out that pesky 'last-line-of-the-email-disclaimer' that requires a whole new page when you print an email.
Perhaps transient paper you can 'fix' somehow if you want to keep it. A spray of some kind?
...and when that stops making you money you can always make a killing in litigation.
*pffft*
If you want to build an empire that no one can infringe upon don't choose a common-as-muck name like "Apple". Try something like, oh, "Skype" for example.
Wow. That really is interesting. Plural huh?
Sooooo... when are you going to pull your head out of arse-land and join us back in reality?

Nice try.

2 to the millionth power would be a gazillion times bigger than the universe would it not?

I want an OS that will only crash because of my own ineptitude. What why I won't use Windows or, if it ever comes back online, AjaxWindows.
Just ensure that the machine if incapable of acquiring superstition or religion.

Well, luckily my wife doesn't need to be hot. She's shocking.
