Well said fella. I can see his point though... If I was full of shit I wouldn't want even to entertain the notion of prison rape. I'd want at the very most to be only half full of shit before I got the rest of it pushed back in there. I think that what you're questioning, then, is the failure of the authorities to acknowledge their duty of care to prisoners in their custody. Of course that's not funny. But a *JOKE* about prison rape is. It's how we deal with feeling uncomfortable about things we can't influence (primarily because once we've exercised our franchise every N years they get to exercise their judgement for us for the next N years). It's called "humour". I need it to stay sane. I think you may benefit from it too. Doesn't stop me thinking that the penal systems in our countries are wrong. In fact, it probably (through irony and online serendipity) brings me together with other people who think that those systems are wrong.
