    Can you download files from the iTunes store using Winamp?
    There are times that free educational content is made available, but only through the iTunes store, and its almost enough to get me to install iTunes.

    I know what white lies are for, and can understand the principle of not wanting to embarrass someone, but I don't think you did her a favor by not telling her the truth, in this case. And I wonder whether you would have done the same had she been thirty years old instead of late seventies.

    No seat belts, but air bags. You normally don't see them unless something goes very wrong, then they're all over you , scaring you, making a big mess and costing a lot of money.

    So when a less-than-alert driver driving a less-than-well-maintained car is driving over the ridiculously low speed limit in less-than-optimal conditions on the less-than optimally maintained road on which you also happen to be driving doesn't end up killing you: is that worth anything?

    Probably meant BPA (bisphenol-A) . Monomer used to make polycarbonate (the plastic that CDs and some bottles and other things are made of.)
    I think it's blamed for a lot of things and many places are banning it, don't know how much of that blame is correctly placed.

    It wasn't passive aggressive. It was a common strategy on Slashdot (I've seen it several times and it always seems to work) for pre-empting downmods and gaining up mods. I'm not sure why it works but it does.
