So we should assume O.J. didn't murder his ex-wife either, seeing he was never convicted in a court of law. Even though he wrote a book detailing exactly how he did it.
A court of law != reality. Being found guilty or not guilty has nothing to do with whether or not you actually committed the crime.
After reading through the posts, I was thinking the same thing. Everyone keeps mentioning "penis size". Testosterone has nothing to do with penis size once you pass puberty. You could have a huge dick and little testosterone, or have a tiny dick and tons of it. About the only real correlation is that if you have more testosterone, you want to use your penis more.
All you need to be your own publisher is a publishing group name, basically. Even my friends who do music as purely a hobby publish their own stuff, and have publishing rights. What record labels actually help with is distribution, promotion, and marketing. You will not be in debt if you treat "advances" for what they really are - a low or no interest loan that will theoretically get paid back out of any earnings in the future, after everyone has taken their cut. Or, be smart and don't take any advances. But most of the professional musicians I know have no illusions about the fact they may not make any money from record sales in the future. Touring and selling merch yourself are the best ways to make some money, and those are far from guaranteed either.
Because artists who actually want to make money by doing their craft aren't so naive. Independents are great and all, but cash, not ideals, is what pays the bills. If music is your hobby, great. But if it is your career and source of income, you have to play the game a little.
72%? Big deal.
In 2006 50% of the US thought Iraq had WMDs.
20% of the US now thinks Obama was born in Kenya.
6% of people still think the moon landing was faked.
Aren't numbers fun?
Hey, it is the law, I never claimed it made sense. I thought the exact same thing you did - way to punish someone who was trying not to be irresponsible.
The computer manufacturers also don't get huge tax breaks from the government with the intent that they use that money to keep up their infrastructure either. We gave them the money, if they didn't put some of it away to dig more trenches that is hardly anyone's fault but their own.
Not necessarily. They can give you an "intent to drive" DUI if the keys are even in your possession. I know someone who got one passed out in a car with the keys in his pocket. He was deliberately not driving becasue he was intoxicated, but that didn't matter. Someone else recently in the news got one in their own driveway becasue he had a fight with his wife and went out to the car to sleep. Had not driven at any point after he started drinking, but again it didn't mater. When you start criminalizing someones intention, I think we are getting a little to close to Minority Report for my comfort.
At some point, lawmakers will be from the generation that also posts on forums, that downloaded mp3's when they were younger (or still do), and that watched 2 or 3 movies illegally when they were students.
The current lawmakers and judges are of a different generation altogether.
I heard the same thing said about the legalization of marijuana in the US, and can't help but notice it has still not been legalized by the federal government.
There always has to be someone to do it first. Just becasue nobody immediately followed their strategy doesn't mean nobody else ever will. And now other bands can point to their example and say "See, it is possible".
If there is a problem, and the lender is covered, then the buyer is also somewhat covered by extension. It isn't like if the sale doesn't go through for some reason, and the lender uses the insurance to cover the loans that the buyer would still need to pay for the loan. That would be fraud on the lender's part. However the buyer may lose the deposit, inspection fees, etc. that he may have paid for already.
If I said "Some people like hamburgers. Not every meal has to be hot dogs." - that isn't implying that hot dogs are hamburgers. He said that some people like happy endings, and the "Not everything has to play out like a French movie" meaning that films with happy endings are the opposite of French movies, or, these films do "not play out" like a French movie. It seemed pretty clear to me that he was implying that French movies do *not* have happy endings. But YMMV.
And they rarely pass on the bad lawsuits either.
That's no uninhabited moonlet...

Because that would just force me to do calculations to convert Kelvin or Celsius into Fahrenheit.
Well, please tell us who you are Mr. Condescending Anonymous Coward so we can avoid your software at all costs. (Pun intended.)
No, I am quite sure pigeons can fly and crap at the same time. Full duplex.

Agreed. Regular ninjas don't scare me, but could you imagine an army of ninjas wearing black turtlenecks? Frightening indeed.

Well, in theory. We don't know the reality, and may never.

Because anonymity is awesome too!
Besides, he said porn is awesome, not that the public declaration of your love of porn is awesome.
A penis.
I don't care what "most people" think or want. Most people are idiots.
is most likely why you were modded Troll. I am guessing that "most people" apparently don't like to be called idiots.
How about Ground Two? Zero would imply the epicenter of the attacks.
If we deleted all the posts that happened after all-nighters, over half of Slashdot would disappear instantly!
No worries...

I also thought the ending was decent. Now the ending to It on the other hand....
