Off-topic but FWIW, I volunteer for a dog rescue and Craigslist has been a godsend. It has become enormously successful for recovering a lost pet or getting a stray back to it's owner. Posting a stray in Lost and Found is the first and best thing to do.
And beyond the obvious benefits of reunion for pets and owners, it has reduced intake at the shelters. That increases the length of time the animals who do go in get to be adopted as animals are often put down for space. It also reduces the number of animals exposed to infectious diseases which are routinely present in shelters.
Please don't toss Craigslist so quickly.
