Apparently reading does not mean comprehension so I can't suggest the same to you. The endorsement is not of THOMAS, but of Washington Watch. In that endorsement THOMAS is used in a negative way, but this should all be clear as the part of the sentence you left off says:

For Raymond, the issue here is that Harper was critical of the Library's own work in a way which endorsed his own; as Raymond puts it, ...[your quote] sigh

Mod parent up! I am in the unfortunate circumstance of having a very large house compared to the surrounding neighbors and it is quite visible in Google Earth. The consequences of having my wealthy home visible from space are quite horrific, over the past year my home has been the target of thieves on multiple occasions. I contacted the Police department and they informed me that by using Google Earth it is easy for thieves to see that approaching from the rear of the property, where it is very wooded and concealed, is the best route. Now after I heard that I was quite shocked. Why would any resposible company make it easier for evil doers to commit a crime? I informed the Google corporation almost immediately but they refused to remove the images of my home and chose to endanger the lives of my family. The Google Corporation claims that they are not responsible and perhaps I should invest in a security system, but I continue to refute that in the 9months prior to Google Earth's release my home was never burglarized yet after I have been a victim 4 times. I can only imagine what sinister deeds those that pray on responsible citizens as us are planning. With this new technology the scum of the world can spy on my family, they can see the bus stop where my daughter waits every morning for school! First the prey on my possesions now this is a direct attack on my children!

Umm... this is a slightly different scale of power generation. Those ships and submarines which are nuclear powered have really small reactors. The power (and more importantly pressure) generated in a small Navy sub reactor is "small" compared to this beast. We're talking about TWO full scale reactors on a barge.
Are you sure about that? The Popsci article states that the plant would be run by two 60 megawatt reactors that are currently used in Russian icebreakers so 1/2 wouldn't really be considered small. Also the USS George H. W. Bush recently launched is powered by 2 reactors which are supposed to be triple the power of the 8 reactors on the USS Enterprise.

I'm not sure if that is all that true anymore at least. Granted I don't run a vast amount of software but in my experience it seems more recent software tends to be non brain dead at least in the gaming industry. What was once one of the worst offenders, nearly everything used to write to the program files dir but now all the ones I have had experience with write to the user space. Every other program I run allows a choice of where to save data so they work perfectly as well. However, like I said I don't have every software title at my disposal and really it could just be luck in the programs I run. Well I would disagree with what seems to be the majority of comments that this is a bad thing in concept. However I do think they took it too far, mandating virtually anything usually is not the best solution. Rather the building/community would be better served by a proactive offering of assistance. Say one had an open access point, the management realize and offer their assistance to the owner to secure it if they would like. No mandatory anything, but still informing the owner of something he may not know about. Heck even some entrepreneurs could solicit their services for this. The one thing I dislike is the lack of education that is aimed for those who don't have the time to devote to computers. We just call them stupid as if they are supposed to be born with such knowledge.

Well from what I understand the T-9 minutes hold is scheduled but the duration is not scheduled. The official countdown clock seems to try to account for the several scheduled holds as it currently reads over 9 hours to launch while it is scheduled for around 3:30 EDT about 15 hours from now. Maybe someone who actually knows for sure can comment but that is my deduction.

Well there are plenty of legal ways to preview a song, such as the radio but seeing as you can't really pick which song to hear it's a bit hard and non pop music is harder to find. Your friend could also tell you "hey, go check out blahblah on itunes(or whatever music store even most brick and mortar stores you can listen to an album first.), as you can listen to 30sec clips of the song. You could also go over to your friend's house to listen to the album and see if you like it. There are plenty of legal ways of previewing or getting reviews of music before you buy that it doesn't justify stealing.

It is a bit harder with movies or games as allot of people only watch/play it once, unlike music which you listen to repeatedly usually. They also can't give away the ending or the surprise as obviously then it wouldn't be a surprise. So you go into a movie with only what someone else has said about the movie and you may not like it at all. With most games and other software there are demos you can try that are either limited function or limited duration if not both.

If there were stiffer and/or actual enforceable penalties for pirating the only complaint by many would be money as many of us are dirt poor and hell we like free stuff. For music/games there isn't really a reason other than money that they are pirated, movies however people are questioning the content and they like free stuff. Why would you pay for something you don't like which seems like the real problem with the movie industry you have no idea what you are getting except from the words of others.
