  1. Re:PCIe advertisement? on Best Gaming Video Cards for the Money · · Score: 0

So you are telling me if I have a $300 budget for a card and have an AGP board, I can magically replace a $200 mobo, $150 CPU AND get an equal "$300 AGP PCIe" card for only $300????

  2. PCIe advertisement? on Best Gaming Video Cards for the Money · · Score: 0

Is it me or did they cheap out on the AGP suggestions?

I have an AGP motherboard that cost me well over $200 (6 sata ports that can do RAID 1/0 & RAID 1/0/1+0 along with every other bell and whistle) and right now I want to get the best bang for my buck....but my buck may be over $200. Their suggestion for a $200+ card is to go PCIe, which means I have to buy a new mobo. If I am doing that I almost certainly need a new CPU and memory. You would be a fool to buy a new mobo that supports your 'old' CPU just for PCIe.

Heck, I am in a similar situation.

I was working for a contract company and paying $250/week for health insurance. I had debt, but managed it just fine. My wife got pregnaunt and no big deal we thought. Most cost around $10,000 so we thought we would have to cover $1,000...maybe $2,000.

Well, when our son was born, he decided he wanted to stay in the NICU for 2 weeks. $120,000+ later he was at home. Insurance statements started to come in needless to say we wernt pleased. After our deductable and "other expenses" that dont count towards max out of pocket, we owed around $15,000. Sure, a long way from $120,000 but nothing I could pay off in 1 month like all the billers wanted.

In the end, we are paying on what we can but most is going to collection agencies. None of the medical providers want to work with us, within reason (paying off $8,000 to one biller in 12mo is not reasonable), and its easier for them to "sell" the debt to a collector.

Oh well, if they garnish my wages, someone isnt going to get their money. I dont care if its the credit card companies or the hospitals.

I am now working for a new contract company that charges less then my previous (still $140/week) but at least has covered 95% of our medical costs and would pretty much pay for any future pregnauntcy.

How come allofmp3.com does not receive the same attention other sites receive? They are probably the most dangerous server in the world to RIAA, yet RIAA attacks schools and 10 year old girls. Thats alright, the less the press talks about them, the better off the allofmp3.com users are. Don't mod this post up, we wouldn't want RIAA to focus their 'death rays' on them.

  11. Poor comparison on Sony More Trustworthy Than Microsoft · · Score: 1

Usually when you compare two companies, they both offer the same or similar service/product. However, they are two totally different companies with different user bases.

If we start with the title of Sony being better then Microsoft, that directly implies that they are comparing the gaming systems they offer. What would be the other reason to state that Sony ranks better then MS?

Now, if we look at what each company offers (high level overview), we really see that they can not be compared.

    Microsoft offers:
      -OS(Windows)
      -Games
      -XBox

    Sony offers:
      -PlayStation
      -Games
      -Consumer and professional electronics
      -Music

Now, if you were to survey someone on how they ranked Sony and did not tell them to filter their thoughts, the results would be all over the board from a survey pool.

I love Sony video products but hate their audio products along with their music division (Sony BMG). I do not like the PlayStation and their games are alright. As for MS, I like Windows, love the Xbox and their games are alright.

I'm sure there are some /. people that hate Windows but like the Xbox.
