How can you really support a tax on an entire population for an industries inability to adapt to market conditions?
Technology, and our advancement in communications, have driven out standard distribution methods. That isn't our fault. That is the music/movie studios fault. If they can't figure out how to make money, then they should go bankrupt! Let someone else try a new model and eliminate the monopoly on media! We should not be punished by a broad media tax because there are imbeciles who want to continue to make millions and millions of dollars without really doing anything creative.
The big problem is Microsoft is advertising Aero as Vista. They don't call it Aero in their ads, they say "Hey look what VISTA can do, this is pretty cool," then they show some fancy Aero glass eye candy. The logical conclusion most people would make is that what they are seeing IS Vista, therefore they would want to buy a Vista Capable computer to get all those fancy features. They do this and it isn't what they expected. Microsoft is intentionally misleading consumers. Another big problem is that brand new computers should have absolutely no problem running a current operating system. Honestly, if you go into a store and buy a current model you should not have to worry about the responsiveness of the operating system!
Why then are these same people not filing suits about the Ford Edge not being able to climb buildings and park on walls?
Because if you look at the fine print it states that the images shown are a dramatization, whereas Microsoft's advertisements are demonstrating features of a product.
How is this different than something like Geek Squad? Best Buy sells you a piece of software and then for a fee will send someone out to install it for you. It seems like they are just offering you the same type of service; installation assistance with the purchase of both an ipod and movie.

Are we going to start posting slashdot comments as articles now?
