  1. Diigo on Google SideWiki Brings Comments To Everyone · · Score: 1

Diigo (http://www.diigo.com/) is something I've used for a while, and found very useful. Google Sidewiki sounds a lot like it.

  2. Google sites or PBwiki on Collaborative Software For Pair Programming? · · Score: 1

http://sites.google.com/ should be a good place to start, or some other free wiki hosting site such pbwiki.com. A wiki is good for text sharing, very easy to get started with, and allows extra functionality (cross linking, multiple pages) that help collaborate, and is also good for submitting a final report!

  3. Re:If the phone company wants to charge... on Hacked Business Owner Stuck With $52k Phone Bill · · Score: 1

Using the same analogy, if someone stayed in an insufficiently secured house while the owners were away, the electricity company should be illegally selling electricity and the water company illegally selling water -- stolen goods by the example above! The thief is liable, but if the provider cannot notice any difference from their end regarding the service being provided, then they are not liable in my opinion.

  11. Future Implications on Google Patents Detecting, Tracking, Targeting Kids · · Score: 1

One potentially dangerous future implication: 1. Not only kids, but people of different psychological types (i.e. likes, weaknesses classified) -- doesn't Facebook already do this? 2. If a potentially malicious entity has access, there you go: viruses/trojans which target not only vulnerabilities in computers, but those in people too... not only viruses, but more sophisticated attacks by intelligent entities as well. Oh well.. its always the same.. everything can be put to good AND bad use...

  12. This is telepathy, very obviously on Nerve-tapping Neckband Allows 'Telepathic' Chat · · Score: 1

This, combined with the other technology posted here: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/02/19/238209 makes it easily a telepathy device as follows: 1. Nerve tapping voice converted to signals 2. Signals processed and transmitted by device causing the other person who is "hearing voices in his head" (see other post) If both parties have each device (i.e. nerve-tapping + voice hearing combo), then they can effectively communicate 'telepathically', and this can easily be secured with a bit more research.

  13. Quick Fixes on Posting Publicly Available URL Claimed a "Hack" · · Score: 1

It is a good strategic move in the long run for the company: if they are able to make the forum remove the post, then it would be a precedent for future cases like that. However, it sounds, in a way, just an excuse to cover up for very sloppy behaviour. In the time you take to ask someone to remove a link, why not do something about the link that is already available: I can see that it is still there!

Centuries ago, when we had hurt each other so bitterly, I had flung her to outer space, with all the diamonds I had bestowed upon her, and though I brought her back eventually, the diamonds had been broken into pieces and scattered far and wide..... oh well.... seems NASA is starting to look for them.. she will be happy :)

  19. Welcome to Crystal Corp! on Sculpture to Reflect Campus Wireless Traffic · · Score: 1, Interesting

Welcome to Crystal Corp. Starting from what once started on giant screens in Ball State University, we have made our technology assume the form of 3-dimensional Crystal balls, where you can gaze into to see sights you would never see otherwise. Some of our latest Crystal Balls: The Mind Ball: Tiny transmitters carried around by people in your office/university detect and transmit the most dominant thoughts they are having. See this collectively on our Mind Ball! The World Ball: Events in the world, translated directly from five major news channel's sites, encoded into images and sounds, and put into the World Ball! See what is going around in the world, by gazing into the ball (it takes practice, but you really can!) The Basket Ball: Every major game going on in the world, every player, the number of baskets scored, the team formation, boy this was a tough one! Give us in your ideas for other great balls and we will make you part of our ball testing program, access to our latest and greatest crystal balls, and a chance to become part of the Crystal Corps Beta testing team.
