Google+ (at least for the meantime) does not have "apps" posting to everyone's wall/stream, so I consider that a big benefit. Also the "circles" concept was simple enough for my 60 year old mother to understand, but facebook groups was not. Google+ is not totally inundated with spam (yet). Aside from things like sunk cost and the network affect (everyone you know is already on fb) there's not much good reason to use FB in my opinion. The ability to download all the data you'll post to G+ is an additional big plus for me, even though it doesn't necessarily mean anything to average joe.
Consider it like using the long term support version of Redhat or Ubuntu. The people willing to accept all the risk get the new whizbang features. Once the kinks have been ironed out you'll get it too.
I was under the impression that the vendor practically gave away these racks at or below cost so they can run around saying eBay uses their storage racks.
You're measuring storage capacity. Ebay is IO bound rather than storage bound. So they measure in reads/($*second) where $ is a function that incorporates comparative failure rates, electricity costs, and probably a few other bits that don't come to mind at the moment.
It's important to note that spinning disks have been around for a long time and the margin on them is small. SSDs are new tech so the margins are quite large (to pay for the research). It's highly unlikely that ebay paid the research premium and that the vendor for those SSDs cut them a huge deal for advertising purposes. It also doesn't take into account other costs such as life expectancy of the SSDs vs. spinning disks, whether the ebay CEO is on the board of the SSD manufacturer's company, etc.
Google+ does not have an issue with pseudonyms, they just want you to use a pseudonym that could possibly be a legitimate name. So first name zyssh doesn't count, but Jim Smith does. With apologies to zyssh, as I am clearly an insensitive clod.
For the millionth time, Google doesn't care if you use a pseudonym as long as your pseudonym passes the whiff test as a legit name. So xyzzy is out but you could use any made up name you want. They specifically state it does not need to be your real name.
With the windows open it doesn't matter much how good your insulation is.

Debt Deal Reached

The problem with REPUBLICANS is that they don't understand that a the difference between a tax cut and cutting a check is zilch. Tax cuts are government programs too and they distort markets and disproportionately support one market/sector over another. We need to cut fewer checks but we need to end tax subsidies also.
If the growth rate of your debt is lower than the rate of inflation the market value of your debt decreases even while the nominal value increases. You could theoretically have deficits every year and the value of your debt would approach zero as time approaches infinity.
It's also important to remember that during Reagan's time we were getting like 3-4:1 GDP growth for our federal spending while now we get about $0.65-0.75 on the dollar in GDP growth per federal dollar spent. And that GDP growth would mean increased tax revenue for the foreseeable future. I'll leave speculation on our current poor rate of return for another time.
My understanding is that the ceremony is almost never legally binding. In most states you need a notary and witnesses for the paper contract/license. The paper is the legally binding part. The "I do's" are just for show.
My 13 year old SUV gets 24 real MPG (mostly highway for me also). When considering what I want for my next vehicle I picked 32MPG out of the air as the MPG I'd like to hit for a mid/full sized sedan. I'm really shocked at how many sedans can barely keep up with my SUV in highway MPG.
And on Google+ you could have created a pseudonym, just not a pseudonym that doesn't reasonably pass for a real name. Google just doesn't want a bunch of accounts for first_name: viagra, last_name: king. (with apologies to all the Viagra Kings out there, insensitive clod, etc.) Make a John Doe or Alejandro Quincy, or whatever other fake name you want.. it just needs to pass the whiff test that it *could* be a real name. Will the whiff test accidentally flag some legit legal names? Sure, but that's the cost of making a passable attempt at getting out the hooligans.
Google+ doesn't ban pseudonyms, they only require that your pseudonym pass for a real name. They even explicitly say as much during the process of creating your profile. Make 100 John Doe accounts, no one cares.
Or USB devices of any sort, or DVDs/CDROMS you didn't burn yourself, etc with source code you have read. And for the love of all things holy don't let an actual human being know any of the access passwords, those human beings are the biggest security holes ever made.
This is the result of an oligopoly. A person would be crazy to think there's not a market TODAY for a 50+mpg sedan. But the manufacturers don't have to listen to their customers, and they pretty much write their own rules in government regulation so that's a waste too.
It's true that Obama doesn't write the budget, but he alone has the power to recall every single one of our men and women back from Iraq and Afghanistan. If there's no soldiers there the legislature would change the budget real quick and in a hurry like. Obama could have vetoed the extension to the Bush tax cuts, even if it wound up being overruled by the legislature. Obama is not using his power to affect the change he claims to want. He is either a weakling or is only paying lip service to his constituents while doing what he wants or believes needs to be done.
You're standing on a busy street corner screaming at the top of your lungs, then getting upset that someone overheard you because you meant for it to be a private communication. Also, whether or not you encrypted the data does not change whether you broadcast it.
Chrome has a similar header
The prefetching mechanism passes a special header so anyone in the analytics business will know to ignore those requests.
[somefamilymember] has sent you a bushel of hay on farmville!

Apple gets 30%. Really, 8% markup isn't bad to have your products on the shelf at a vendor like ebay is pretty good. Do you know the Amazon markup?

Ebay has 4 DNS entries visible from here, so I would safely multiply that number by at least 4.

There's no way they'd let you use anonymous pseudonyms.
Google doesn't care if you use a pseudonym as long as your pseudonym could possibly be a legitimate name. John Doe is perfectly acceptable.

Umm, big problem with your theory there bud. By creating an infinite loop of heat creation you'll dramatically increase the rate of global warming.

On that topic, don't use wireless.
