I work on a lot of computers around town. it's a small town and not many computer literates... Often I will install adware protection because often adware is what broke the computer. However I will say the majority of users on Windows XP SP2 have the Windows Firewall enabled. Out of factory it is enabled, and if not windows warns if not nags constantly that it is off. New Installs ask you to enable it before even letting you log in to Windows. The "average User" as you put it, would have a harder time turning off the firewall or disabling the nags.
Now on a side note, it's not the greatest firewall but it does enough to block incoming.
I suspect those doing the trace.. if good enough to block the attacks are most likely good enough to properly trace them and not be fooled by your elite "zombie" ideas.
I thought about doing this too and going with a sort of 80's Arcade motif. Along with all of the above I'd throw in some upright classic gaming cabinets like Pac Man, Donkey Kong etc. or maybe a few MAME uprights. Then some Air Hockey and Fooz Ball tables. Pump in some loud early 80's music. To top it off you gotta have Hot Dogs and Nachos. Maybe free nacho fridays.;)
Buy a new copy of Windows with a legit key. You just need the key.
Go to the following REGISTRY key and change one of the bits to de-activate windows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents
"OOBETimer"
This will allow you to re-run the activation tool which has a button to change the serial.
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe/a
Choose to activate over phone and you'll get the button to change the serial.
Enter the new serial then just exit the tool and reboot. No need to complete activation.
After reboot all is well.
I rush them back fast as I can so I can get more man.. This article apparently not written by a true Netflixer. The goal of a netflix movie watcher is to watch the movies fast as you can and send them back for more. It's all about getting as many mowies on a good turn around and thus getting your moneys worth.
