Formal education systems with their rigidity are terrible institutions that suppress any individuality - I thought when I was young. Today I think that more often then not individuality and creativity is misunderstood for aggression and lack of respect for others. Of course system swings either this or the other direction and the weak and sensitive become either outcasts or get skin thick enough to survive. This thickening of skin is also a learn process that although unpleasant is necessary in your adult life.
I hated some of my teachers for although good in formal teaching they failed as an examples of how adults should behave. I still dislike t hem but I understand now that these experiences were preparation to adult life. This of course does not answer the question of science.
But frankly I see this rather relaxed. I am sure that a lot of scientists are just plain arses without understanding and capacity to lead a dispute in the way the old philosophers did. There is plenty of bad scientists. Some of them achieve something in their own field but still fail to even see a bigger picture (forget about understanding what is there to explore). But of course it is important to understand why herring farts it is I think not a coincidence that these were british scientists - brits with their anal obsession fit exactly in this research field but that requires further research which I am sure will be (is being???) done.
I think you had an excellent idea - pursue the line of argument in which they do it because they want to obtain (thermal) photos of naked children. Perverts!!!
I know this is OT but when I read what 'ebook readers' need I thought - how could reader be cheaper - it is a human beeing for f. sake. This I suppose means that I am a fart old enough to still remember that we actually read books. Now we have a tool that does it for us:)
drm or not I need no device that can delete my files all by itself, files for which I paid with my own money. Of course a real book can be torn apart, converted to ashes etc or given to my son, some other disasters can happen that make it unusable. I still can throw it away of keep based on MY wishes, not like Kindle did of late deleting files on orders from its masters. If anything this one single action by amazon convinced me NOT to use any of such device unless of course I have no choice as they sue me for whatever violation of low I committed by reading the book to a stranger for instance etc. I cannot stop the so called progress but I am not going to make it faster especially if I dislike it so much.
I wish I could use the device on law enforcement officials, politicians that are so proud of their stance on war on drugs and of course their offspring, wifies and other attachments, that should teach them bastards.
what on earth have people allegedly stealing from your offspring to do with blasting or not of ICBMs in NK? You should maybe calm down. try reading this before ou continue this line of argument.
why not - paper is good if it can deliver but f I understand TFA correctly the papa (of all bombs) is not a nuclear device and it is delivered from a bomber (B2 or B52 are expected to be papa-capable) so I see nothing that connects treaty you mentioned with the case but I am sure t here is a treaty that forbids bombing NK and Iran. I am equally sure diplomats can always find a loophole however - they find out that the words used meant something completly different than thought till now etc, maybe even before the papa ia actually used:)
In any case I see no reason not to bomb the NK rulers to ashes. That seems the only language that they understand. The only problem I can see is that the defenders of democracy and human rights in Kremlin and in Beijing have nukes at their disposal and they seem to be good friends with Iran and NK which means that US military would have t o deal with all of them at once which I doubt it will dare do.
Well what a surprise - the struggle for freedom never ends.
The world changes so do its laws and situation in which they are applied. Only by being vigilant citizens can prevent government taking too much powers and abusing them. Nobody says it is not dangerous thing to do. We should still be happy that they do not execute us like they do in NK or Iran. Still realizing how well our systems work we should keep an watchful eye on our representatives and fight them if need be.
They did this because they love complicated laws that provide the loopholes for the needy. Now the question is who could be needy here and what could their need be.
I like Germany but I think their problem is not even their complex law system that nobody really understands. The problem is that the majority of them either believe in it or are to lame to challenge it. Example: a colleague of mine sitting normally on the other side of our common desk claims that german courts never make mistakes. Now I talked with my other colleagues and they (majority of them being of German origin) claimed that I have a problem because I come from a communist country. The problem is not in lawmakers but in lame society that allows them to pass silly ineffective laws and then use these laws as they please. Admittedly it still works better than in NK but one could expect better from a democratic country that allegedly loves human rights and dislikes corruption of political system.
that is fine alas has no chance of success. The reason being that people who can change the laws have no interest in doing so and it does not help to replace them every 4y because new ones get to know sources of free meals and where to get coke and hookers before they even show up in the house first time.
This in a sense is similar to decriminalizing ganja - as soon as you start talking about facts and merits of different solutions you become a criminal and enemy of the state or at least a small pervert that eats children for breakfast. Not that I care except that both activities i.e fighting ganja smokers and cr violators waste huge amounts of taxpayers money for benefit of a few.
The only purpose we have in arbitrage is that the prices in different markets gets aligned and some liquidity is provided. But arbitrage should follow certain rules and according to TFA they can see other peoples bets before they are executed - is this still arbitrage or a rip off? Some look at this as a parasitic activity which in a sense it is but even that has its use. Only one has remember that parasites sometimes kill their host don't they? I think time has come to regulate that properly. Alas I do not think this is going to happen.
well if you evaluate the stocks for what they are i.e. company cut into slices then investment means - buy and wait till company brings the benefit. If the only purpose to trade the stock is to win on fluctuations then not only the natural brains do not do the picks properly but the said algorithms either. Of course they manage to equalize the price of the stock on different exchanges. I wonder only what this sort of activity costs the economy at large you know the real one that produces things or provide services to people. I guess there is a question of scale but if such manipulation is more profitable than providing health service (this I picked intentionally as US health service is in the news recently and it sucks big time) for instance then health service will suffer. There is certain amount of this sort of activity that an economy actually needs. There is a limit of what it can stand too. If there is no regulation then the its drift towards resonance frequency will break it. Or so it seems.
there is a good reason we have stock markets - they bring benefits to the economy. However when the financial industry that runs them starts being as huge as to be believed to become the most important industry there - this is where problems start. But of course them casino boys are system relevant so they should be allowed to do what they please, after all if things go well then they reap the profit, if things go bad it is (mostly) not their money that gets lost and they still reap profit and if things go really bad then there is Joe Taxpayer who signs the bill (together with PRC among others). As far as I see there is no way this is going to change any time soon - after all the casino boys are the only ones that are allowed to regulate their only trade or so it seems - it is naive to expect them to change the way it works now as this means only pain and misery for them.
Let us take your second example bit further - if I play with somebody else's property here i.e. risking losing everything that does not belong to me but in case of success winning some small sum of money (small comparing with the actual liquidity being base for the bet) then we have a situation that annoyingly resembles something completly different. In this completly different and one would hope not realistic situation the bets were in fact so huge that the national states that did not forbid such games could go bankrupt or bought by Chinese government (if it saw it fit).
There are plenty of opportunities in IT and programming where no such skills are required and lots of people that do not want to be like that and still be satisfied in their job and even get their bills paid by it.
I still have this (possibly naive) impression of what real engineer is supposed to be: self sufficient person capable in its own trade but also in organising people, dealing with authorities etc and with his activities helping out his small community in which s/he lives. I suppose this means really that particular branch of technology in which you are trained matters less than these other non technological skills. The question is - how much of this stuff you can really learn from courses and how much you have to learn from your own experience.
There is still splitter all over the place. The point being that something is always left out and that being not special concern for glass except that I have to change tyres more often than I should have, is however more troublesome for mercury containing trash. I am not saying we should dispose of these bulbs but if other means could achieve us almost the same without toxic problem I would consider such alternative as worthwhile.
But now to the beer - my Paulaner is awaiting me in the fridge - need to drink it before it acquires this terrible glass taste
Relaying on public to dispose it properly even if the public generally cares is not going to solve the issue. In Germany we have schemes that pay for empty bottles returned to the shop and I still manage to get flat tyre on my back fairly frequently due to all the glass splitter and that even though there are people that actually collect the bottles to get some cents for their own beer. Considering the fact that disposing toxic trash is a big business here which cought attention of organized criminals long time ago the only thing that such caring public is going to achieve is that the mercury (and other stuff) lands in Africa (off coast of Somalia was a good place till recently) and this does not even account for damage that is done to environment in countries where the bulbs are produced - you ever wondered why they can be so cheap when produced in China for instance? It is not only labour but environmental regulation or lack thereof. I am afraid the only way to get rid of the toxic waste problem is not having producing it at all. If all different sorts of bulbs are more or less equal with regards to energy consumption then I see no reason to use ones with mercury. If new bulbs are as simple in use as the old ones then there is no way in mass production they are going to be more expensive than the fluorescent ones, me thinks.
I hated some of my teachers for although good in formal teaching they failed as an examples of how adults should behave. I still dislike t hem but I understand now that these experiences were preparation to adult life. This of course does not answer the question of science.

has anybody reported this terrible book to authorities yet? Just wonder.
I think you had an excellent idea - pursue the line of argument in which they do it because they want to obtain (thermal) photos of naked children. Perverts!!!

you stopped reading when you got to nk part did you not? I did not propose to sit down and be happy - if you read on you would have known.
I wish I could use the device on law enforcement officials, politicians that are so proud of their stance on war on drugs and of course their offspring, wifies and other attachments, that should teach them bastards.

Such possibility exists of course but I meant application of Gresham's law to goods like cars etc but I guess you know that of course.
Well obviously you have never experienced this 'bad money replaces good money' effect in your life yet.
This in a sense is similar to decriminalizing ganja - as soon as you start talking about facts and merits of different solutions you become a criminal and enemy of the state or at least a small pervert that eats children for breakfast. because he says the 'truth' or version of it as broadcast by RIAA and co.
Well if you had thought otherwise you would be have been a manager not a maker.

but the only ones that really want it more accurate are these milisecs boys so you still failed to answer the question accurately, me thinks.

by wiping it you mean with ICBMs or? At least some sensible use of tax payers money.
