  1. An update: I might have been mistaken. That video wasn't from Prince's induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was actually during George Harrison's posthumous induction, I think. That's means they got together with Harrison's son Dhani and Harrison's bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys and put together a tribute to George Harrison, using one of the best songs for a rock guitarist to solo over, While My Guitar Gently Weeps (the chord progression and the turnaround are perfect for dramatic soloing).

When it was time to decide who to get to do the big solo part, these guys came up with Prince. That in itself is a hell of a tribute to him.

It is completely true. You will never get hired at a real orchestra without an 8 year music degree.

Here is a list of members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. If you do a little googling (as I just have) you will find that there are quite a few players (including principal players) who do not have PhDs in music.

I don't know where you got the idea that you need a PhD to play in a symphony orchestra, but it's just wrong. I have first-hand knowledge of this (friends who play in Chicago's Civic Opera orchestra who do not have PhDs).

  7. The base mechanism for individual freedom was systematically destroyed for the last 107 years, since Sherman Act destroyed property rights in the USA. Since then the money has been corrupted by the Fed, property stolen via the IRS, the government turned free people into slaves while the mob was cheering for more theft and redistribution. Which part of it is capitalism?

Those are all the inevitable result of Stage 4 Capitalism (except the Sherman Act, of course, which you're simply wrong about). When capital is sufficiently consolidated, all that corruption and slavery and theft and loss of freedom is absolutely inevitable.

Consolidation of capital can not be trusted to do anything good.

Capitalism is turning China into the most powerful county on this planet

And also one of the most corrupt and economically concentrated. It will make the lives of average Chinese better for a little while, and then destroy their lives, taking away freedom and putting them into serfdom. Capitalism eventually produces economic tyranny. Think about this: Donald Trump actually has higher unfavorability ratings than Hillary Clinton. It's hard to believe, but it's not even close. An IRA or 401K is not the same as a pension.

And pensions are for people who are in unions. You think companies just all of a sudden decided to give retiring workers money? Pensions were something that were fought for through labor organizing.

You can thank Ronald Reagan and trickle-down economics for pensions where people can live with dignity in old age to 401k plans (if they're lucky) that are nothing but piggy banks for Wall Street to play with.

Sounds like the legacy of Reaganomics

There's a reason it's the "highest suicide rate in three decades". It's most definitely thanks to Reaganomics and the trickle-down legacy, where the futures of middle and working class people trickled right down the drain.

The decline of labor unions meant that working people had less power in the meta-transaction of labor v capital. After decades of the middle and working classes gaining power, suddenly watching that power being taken away by orange-haired frauds like Ronald Reagan has taken the heart out of those people. They're working as hard as ever, and watching as the pensions of their parents turn into their own 401k bucket of nothing.

In ten years, we're going to see that generation (and the next) reach old age with nothing but their social security checks to live on. That's when we're either going to see the suicide rate skyrocket or we'll come to learn as a society that we've allowed stage 4 capitalism to run us off the rails.
