+1 at my company, we switched cell providers due to dropped calls and started 2 year contract with the one that is supposed to have the least amount of dropped calls. the dropped calls pretty much stopped, but now experience inbound calls going at all. after testing signal strength throughout the buildings from ground level to roof, giving my CS, his boss, and field engineer my test results (which i was surprised i got this far) the end result: "you have a tower in line of sight from your building, its not our problem."

i had an n810 (wifi only), and the vpnc/rdesktop combo alone was worth their weight in gold when traveling w/o a laptop. throw in the webcam/mic for gizmo/google talk with voice was very nice when traveling outside the US for free calls the gps worked very nicely after it locked in. plus every app you could want/need is free. the ability to use those applications above from anywhere cell coverage is available, without tethering a device to a cell phone over BT is reason enough for me to buy one when prices come down. that is the exact reason i got rid of my n810... i am not often around wifi, and hate carrying multiple devices.

I'm not quite buying your simplification, though, either: how do you account for the 59% of car purchases made by women [womenof.com]? What's their issue, penis envy? thats because women can't drive, foolishly bump into stuff, then proceed to go and buy (or persuade their husbands) to get a newer vehicle that is more "safe" that much more fashionable and has less scratches on it.

I have been a VMWare user for a few years now, as well as MS virtual PC, and tinkered with MS Virtual Server for some time... So far, the utilities i have found for VMWare have been very useful and havent found any for MS products, though i really havent looked. I found this product called MakeVM last week or so. It runs on a live windows box and clones straight to a VMware Virtual Hard drive, over network.

so far i have used this on 4 legacy machines, and moved them straight to my VMWare host running on linux with samba, and had them all cloned and running in 2 days with no downtime. could have been less since i waste alot of time readin these articles..

then i came across this utility diskmount to map drives to virtual disks in the event that i need to do so, which has been rather handy...

I use the free version on windows in my office for testing, on my windows and linux servers, at home on Ubunutu, and never had a problem with it with any guest OS. In addition, the fact that i can boot a guest OS directly from my windows hard drive through my Ubuntu session gives it extra points since i never have to reboot my computer

VMWare is definitely the product i am sticking with...

before i started working as a sysadmin and got into my search at home for the perfect distro of linux or bsd, i always worked physical jobs, keeping me on my feet all day. being an extreme sports fan, i would go out and ride bmx, skateboard, or snowboard immediately thereafter. i never had any kind of health issues unless i fell doing something retarded like falling off a twenty foot jump or smashing my face off the ground. it was fun times with all the concussions and sprained body parts. 3 years later, i still do the same things outside of work whenever possible because its hard to ride when your stuck at work, sitting in your desk all day until the sun sets. I lift weights at home whenever possible. Recently, at a skatepark, a did some trick on a quarterpipe on the bike, something i have been doin for years. upon landing (on the pedals) i blew my lower back up somehow. i definitely believe this is because i sit in a desk for 1/3 of my life lately at work and whenever im working at other peoples houses. im blame this on the geek lifestyle now after reading this. also, i think alcoholism should go into the geek health issues... all my coworkers and myself are a bunch of drunks because we cant stand our jobs... we even started goin across the street for shot breaks at 3pm...
