To Sell this type of software is just admiting that Apache is more Secure than IIS. You will never protect yourself faking a weaker server program because it will only increase your cracking trafic!!.
The attacker simply finds a frequently used account such as 'guest' and guesses a few passwords on it. This is classic account/password compromise, nothing more.
