Socialism IS mainstream Democrat ideology. Take abortion - how many pro-life Democrat candidates are there? The GOP field had everything from Cruz to Chafee covering the entire spectrum of 100% pro-life, a mix, and 100% pro-choice. That's ideological diversity. Something the Democrats don't have or tolerate.
It's a bit out of date, but at least on the Federal level, the Government makes more on road fuel taxes than it spends on roads. The excess funds subsidies for trains, buses, and airplanes. Overwhelmingly gas taxes not only pay for interstates and Federal highway projects, but provide enough surplus that it's spent on public transport (which is heavily subsidized). And then when there's a dip in revenues, it's the highway infrastructure maintenance/expansion that is halted (that which directly creates the stream of revenue) in favor of that which is subsidized heavily. Easier to get people to swallow higher taxes if you inconvenience them...
I sell products to a company in Spain, shipped from a factory in Malaysia. I am based in the US. How am I using the services of the Government of Spain? My customer is using those services, but I am not. So why do I have to pay taxes in Spain?
I don't think there is any doubt that they are evading taxes. The problem is that they appear to be doing so (technically) legally.
Then it is not really tax evasion but tax avoidance. The former is illegal, the latter is legal and is pretty much what everyone (corporation and individual alike) does every time they file a tax return.
Or perhaps we let countries compete on tax rates/structures and let each country how best to fund itself? Why does it have to be equal across all countries, other than trying to eliminate the concept of countries altogether?
Does your business buy paper, Internet services, pay rent, provide drinks/snacks, ever have employees travel? You'll pay tax on anything you purchase. I guess if your business can exist without spending a single cent on anything then yes - you pay no taxes.
In nearly every case I can think of, the seller is most likely already set up to collect local sales taxes (and does so). VERY few B2C businesses have no sales tax collections. And B2B businesses are already reporting things like sales and purchases and payments on their various tax forms (revenues, expenses, etc). I agree - it's not an extra burden at all - and would allow the best way to tax - on consumption, not income.
That's OK, the Apple fanboys will continue to slide into irrrelevancy as iOS continues to shed marketshare... Not too far into the future they'll be as irrelevant as neckbeards.
Where is the error? Which primary was more ethnically diverse? Which was more ideologically diverse? That would be the party of real tolerance - the GOP.
"Herp a Derp" yourself... The rich already pay more than 20% and the gardener pays zero. So what does the gardener care when his Congressman says he's going to raise taxes and increase spending? No skin off his back, right? Just tell Peter to steal from Paul...
Yep. And for the Federal Government they only talk about the "on budget" deficit, and ignore all the restof the debt that racks up (over 3 times the "official" on-budget deficit). It's like declaring your mortgage payment is no longer on-budget, so if you stop paying it, you can take that money and pay off other debt and reduce your spending! All the while debt continues to accumulate - but it's not "on budget" so it doesn't matter...
What do we owe, as a country? According to the Treasury department, it's $19.3 trillion - that's our outstanding debt. Trying to say "but some of that is owed to our own people!" and that is true - but it's still a debt because it's money that needs to be paid. You do understand that, don't you?
We are told time and again that everyone benefits from Government largesse, so how about a truly flat tax? The US Federal Government is spending about $4 trillion this year, so that's about $12,500 per man, woman and child in the US. Every legal resident is sent a bill for $12,500. That's a flat tax. After all, we all benefit, right? So we should all pay the same amount...
The IRS won't accept liability for its wrong actions on your behalf. If it calculates your taxes wrong, you're liable for the error and penalties related - even though they did the work (and yes, you can ask them to do your taxes for you).
You are blaming the wrong party, Einstein. Congress created the Swiss cheese that is the U.S. tax code. And the latest estimate is the sainted American people are skipping out on about $450 Billion in taxes they should be paying. That's enough to cover the yearly deficit.
Not quite. The US Debt as of 10/1/2015 (start of FY2016) was $18.15 trillion. It's now $19.26 trillion. So that's about $1.1 trillion added in 9 months, or about $1.46 trillion annually. About 4 times your estimate of uncollected taxes. That $450 billion would help, but would get nowhere NEAR to eliminating the actual annual deficit (not the fake, "on budget" number that's reported).
The simpler the code, the harder it is to hide income. Eliminate 99% of the tax code (seriously, if it's more than a few hundred pages it's too complex), eliminate 99% of all deductions, and you will have a hard time hiding income - unless you operate an all-cash business (which, in itself, draws a lot of attention with the reporting of structured deposits, etc.)
Precisely. This is the beginning of the end for the EU. By 2020 it will be a shell, back to the old EEC which worked quite well before some bureaucrats and bankers got the idea to create a "United States of Europe" and turn all sovereign nations into vassal provinces/States.
The UK was never PART of the EU - that's the point! They exempted themselves from many aspects, including the EU's redefinition of "freedom of movement". That won't change. The UK was never a full participant and always required proof of identity and travel ON DEMAND. It often didn't demand it - but could, because it reserved the right by not being a signatory to the Schengen agreement.
Do you mean torque converter based automatics (which have ~7% to 10% less power to the rear wheels, power that is consumed in the transmission itself) or the newer DCT/DSG automatics which are in fact completely manual transmissions but with the computer deciding when to use the clutch and when to shift? The latter are almost always better/faster than a human rowing the gears (except in VERY few instances such as autocrossing), but it's still a manual transmission that has the gears rowed. The former is quite a bit behind a manual transmission in terms of efficiency and performance.
Yes, but what I've seen is that MT drivers typically leave the car in either 1st or R when parking
AND, this RIGHT HERE would have saved him. That memory muscle to leave it in gear means the SECOND he started to get out of the car he would have let out the clutch (hard to hold it down when you're out) and the car would have either lurched forward and stalled, lurched backward and stalled, or simply stalled (if he had the parking brake on). Pop the clutch, car dies.
If only there was a way to leave a manual transmission car in gear after the engine was shut off... You know, you solve THAT problem, patent it and you'd be RICH!
Why have a door lock on your house? Why should the indigent be kept out of your home because they smell bad or look ugly? Gotta look out for "your own" after all...

There's a thread about pear-shaped nuclei pointing towards some past event. Perhaps that's you?

OK, name the benefits. What benefits arose from the EU that were not already being realized with the prior EEC?

The Schengen agreement predates the EU. By about a decade. That's not going to change.
