Oh, and I forgot to mention - pagans (the Romans) actually taught Christians how to torture and terrorize other religions. Nero was famous for that... Thankfully Christians pretty much outgrew it around 1400 AD.

Contrary to popular belief and what the talking heads in the news claim, this wasn't an assault weapon. It was not automatic, and it required that scumbag piece of pig excrement to consciously and deliberately pull the trigger every single time he shot someone. And of course he also had a pistol with him as well, and apparently used it as well (which would be more effective in a crowded place).

The operative phrase is "used to". That was about 600 years ago, and most of the world was still feudal/slave/master in nature. Of course, in many Muslim countries they still stone gays to death, today. But hey, what's 30 generations, right? It's all equivalent.

  10. Wait, Vancouver has the highest electricity prices in North America? According to Hydro Quebec the US is way over anything in Vancouver. I know down here in the Los Angeles area, we pay a bit more than San Francisco, we'd be around 400 on that scale - about 3 times that of Vancouver (around $0.24 USD per kWhr). And property taxes are really high here as well - not to mention the other taxes we get to pay. The cost of living in San Francisco is considerably higher than Vancouver. I think it is a common error for those outside the US to think t is cheap to live here. I've lived abroad a lot (Canada, Belgium, Chile, China, Thailand) and Belgium was the only place I would say was more expensive - and thay by just a hair.

  11. And that is different than California? Exceedingly high taxes (13% State income tax for starters, on top of the 15% FICA and ~24% Federal income tax), fees, highest gas taxes in the nation, etc. I know Vancouver is expensive - but California is just as expensive if not more so in many areas. Some cities in California average over $4MM for homes...

  12. It's OK. We have no culture. And everyone knows the Brits only have culture and cuisine because they imported it from their colonies... :)

  13. Palo Alto averages over $2 million for homes right now... And you can find those crazy $50 million listings as well. Not to mention this is in US dollars, not the Canadian dollar, so that translates to $2.6 million CAD for the average and into the $70 million CAD range for top listings.

  14. And that is exactly what it does. Of course, your code probably also calls - and links in - a lot of THEIR code and THEIR code adds the extra bits. Which means you really didn't do YOUR job and think about the implications of what external code you added to yours before you released it to your customers.
