I have a cousin in active service as a Marine. Last time he was flying home from Afghanistan (commercial flight), he was in his fatigues, with his rifle and pistol (sans ammunition). The TSA confiscated his 1.5" bladed Swiss Army knife, but he was allowed to carry his firearms and his 7" Ka-Bar fighting knife was perfectly fine. Reason? Government-issued weapons are exempted from confiscation.

I'm a small business guy (3 people, total), and we have - or, as it's turning out, had - affordable healthcare. I'm 42, family history of cancer, overweight, overworked, and paid $110 per month. It was a catastrophic plan with a $3500 annual deductible, but $20 co-pays for my biannual physicals. Great, eh? Except the new rules are making my plan "not Government approved" and thus it's being dropped. My option now is a variety of $400+ per month plans, for about the same coverage. Oh sure, I don't have that big nasty deductible, but I have to come up with $3600+ more per year for my insurance. More than my deductible. And a guaranteed (rather than potential) expense every year. Thanks, Obamacare!

and it's budget is NOT a lack of income; it's the 35% increase in spending over the last 5 years. Spending increases that GREATLY outpace inflation and population growth combined. Olympia (WA State capitol) was looking for more money to recklessly drive spending even higher, rather than first looking at the reason for the budget crunch - the reckless high spending they've been doing for the last 5 years.

Check Anandtech's review of the Macbook Air. Their battery test shows that flash and XviD both chew up about the same amount of battery (130 and 137 minutes battery lost, respectively), basically reinforcing my original statement, and your experience. Video decoding is pretty much the same in terms of processing power and battery consumption for most devices, not "an order of magnitude" different.
