  1. Re:Git usage? on Git 2.8 Officially Released (softpedia.com) · · Score: 1

I store my SaltStack configs in it. In fact, that's my most active repository. Using git for that was what really got me using git in the first place. Now I put my code into git too, but those projects are much less active.

Such theft. Much mad. Very suprise. Wow.

  3. I use home as my dev environement on Ask Slashdot: Do You Run a Copy-Cat Installation At Home? · · Score: 1

I do that. I have a full sized rack at home running an ESXi cluster complete with fiber channel storage. The equipment was cheap, purchased from ebay when I find killer deals. The power and cooling required to keep it running, not so much. Even still, I use home to learn about new things. I'm finding I use it less and less as work gets busier and I tend to just want to watch netflix with the few hours I have left over each day. It's still around whenever I get the itch to learn about something new.

  4. As a desktop admin, I'm loving it. on Microsoft Blames PC Makers For Windows Failure · · Score: 2

Seriously, the Windows Key + X shortcut is the best thing since sliced bread. Also, given the ability to customize the Start screen and pass that out as a default means I can put shortcuts to all our business apps and deliver a useable start menu for everyone. It's also forced users to learn the "press the start key and start typing to find what you want" trick which has started solving the "I can't find blah" calls. The full screen metro apps can feel free to go away. Those suck. Windows 8 is my new OS currently being deployed on all new boxes and old boxes are being reimaged as time permits. By summer I should have over 500 Windows 8 desktops in production.

  5. BSOD in projection system on BSOD Makes Appearance at Olympic Opening Ceremonies · · Score: 2, Informative

Looks like the BSOD happened with one of the systems running the projection system. I know that the systems running the projection are running XPe, not a normal version of windows. According to the manufactures comments, they had 120 media servers running all the projection. With an event of that scale, you're bound to have something crash eventually.
