  1. You're confusing a virus with a bacteria on Cod Enzyme Kills Bird Flu · · Score: 0

If I recall my virology class, a virus usually randomly mutates, causing it's receptors to take on a different biochemical arrangement, which is what leads to resistance to antibodies. Most inoculations against flu are a weakened version of a virus, which causes an immune response. Using an enzymatic agent against a virus seems a novel approach.

Bacteria are constantly going through many generations and exposure to various drugs can cause many mutations as a response. Newly mutated bacteria that can survive the drug are selected out of the others, leading to a resistant version.

  3. HDMI isn't necessary for HD on $600 PS3 Ships Without HDMI Cable · · Score: 0

Component cables work just fine for HD. I'm really not sure what the big deal is with HDMI. Well, other than the fact that a lot of us early HDTV adopters are gonna be screwed somehow shortly, but I don't really know how. All I know is that my er... Sony HDTV, has a DVI input and component inputs. I never messed with the DVI since all the boxes from Time Warner didn't enable the DVI output. Component connectors have worked fine for me so far.

$600???!! Why, that's way too expensive. I mean no one would spend $600 for something you only can play games with. The makers of these cards are stupid.

  6. XBox360, Wii, and PS3 all the same? on Ken Kutaragi's Famous Last Words · · Score: 1

Internet flamewars about the pricing aside, I don't believe these consoles will be equal. I'm not hopping on the Sony bandwagon yet (usually because it's heading for hell down all the various hellish backroads), but what if he's right? What if that sucker gets released and people start demoing actual games and seeing actual graphics and actual game play and start writing on their blogs and such, "OMG... this thing rocks" then what will people say? In the end, if you're not buying one, it's probably not because it's too expensive. Gamers throw a ton of money around when it suits them. No, you'll not buy one because the games are weak, or because of bugs, or because of horrible reviews about the controllers or bad design of some other piece, like the bluetooth is bad, or Blu-ray sucks, etc., etc. It won't be because it's $600 bucks.
