Funny you should mention talking cats, my nephew claims to have one as well. Of course he is 5, you should probably seek professional psychiatric help...
Pffft, that was weak.
Of course with your condition you probably didn't catch this, but I was of course referencing this comment:
yes, thank you, Sherlock, what would I ever do without random advice from/. To think, how did I manage to have an OpenBSD box as a firewall since August and never needed to look at the log files through tcpdump? That's it, you have solved it for me.
You know, the one where you managed to conclusivly demonstrated that you are both a jackass, and a complete idiot, at the same time. It's cute how you still don't get how you messed up right there.
I'm not saying they didn't effectively devastate these guys, I'm saying that when you talk about dropping "electronic nukes" on people, you sounds like you are from a cheap 1990's hacker movie.
I had someone look at it who is more experienced that I am in setting up OpenBSD as a firewall
Look, I'm sure your cat is very intelligent, and I don't doubt that it's a better sysadmin than you, but I think it is a bit unreasonable to expect a common housepet to properly determine the cause of an issue like this.

SFTP is not FTP over SSH... it is a proper FTP
I believe what he is saying is that FTP, in the classical sense, is not a properly done File Transfer Protocol. I'm inclined to agree.
From the article, it sounds like he is more interested in checking out if larger software packages like pdf readers and the like are malware. In other words, he isn't concerned about small stuff, he's concerned about non-obvious trojans that quite possibly function 'correctly' otherwise.
Or you know, ask someone else, or read reviews of it, or any number of other things.
What would even compel someone to bother checking out windows ever again after seeing Windows 1? Was he just buying every version of every piece of software on the shelves, just to see if it was any good?
Nobody was talking about google until you decided to derail the conversation. What exactly are you trying to argue? That if google is big brother, then apple cannot possibly be (there can be only one!)? That anything apple does is excusable because google does worse? I don't get it.
If the key-size is adequate, then yes. I am. You can not brute force a 256bit symmetric key cipher, not on this planet anyways. I defy you to aquire all of the power that would be needed to make modern computers count from 0 to 2^256. That number is a hell of a lot bigger than I think you think it is.
Now, could the NSA be using other, perhaps unknown attacks, on things like AES256? That's entirely possible, but they are not brute forcing it.
Who says the best always have to get their kicks off with public masturbation? While they may never be able to publish, it is also quite likely they will be exposed to concepts and ideas they never would have had the chance to be exposed to otherwise. I'm sure a very large percentage of these sorts of people are driven by a desire to self-improve.
I don't see why it's hard to believe that Steve Jobs would reply to a question like this with a "No." For one thing, it sounds like him.
I completely agree, the only thing I'm annoyed with is people thinking the phrase "According to the report, the email headers made it plausible that the reply had come from Jobs's iPhone." means anything.
4) someone faked the entire exchange so they could get links to their website spread around the internet. 5) any number of other possibilities, limited only by your imagination.
We don't know what happened because email headers do not provide authentication.
number 1 is big news - Steve Jobs email is not secure!!!!
Newsflash, if you are not using GPG/PGP, which apparently Steve Jobs is not, then your email most certainly is not secure. This is only big news to anyone that doesn't know how email works.
Now personally, I'm going to go with "Steve Jobs actually said this", mainly because it sounds dickish enough to be something he'd actually say, but this is a completely seperate issue.
The point is we have no reason to believe those emails came from jobs, anyone representing jobs, or even anyone sharing a point of view with jobs. It could have been some 12 year old eating cheetos and hotpockets while trolling mac forums in his mother's basement using a 15 year old PC running netbsd.
Is that likely? Probably not, but acting like headers tell you anything is idiotic.
MrNaz was quite clearly talking about clients. If you're new here then you might not have realized it yet, but sometimes discussions actually evolve over the course of several comments.
No doubt but most people move on if a game has better graphics, otherwise you would still be playing wolf-3d, why did you move to doom? Oh yes, that's right it that darn graphics thing adds atmosphere and awesomeness to games.
You are assuming it was because of the improved graphics, and not because of the improved gameplay mechanics and pacing. Polished turds are still turds and great games will always be great.
As I said, cute.
But I'm in a good mood today so I'll give you a hint: tcpdump isn't a pager, you don't read logs with it.
Why do authors often give names to chapters in their books, if they never intend on having chapters published individually?

How'd you determine that? Did you 'read its logs with tcpdump'?

Oh come on now! What is this, a bad hollywood movie? We don't have to be so overly dramatic.
Yeah, hence the spelling mistakes. Sure.

Oh come now, everyone knows that time is money. Also women are the root of all evil, or however that works....
Then compare apples to apples and stay on topic. Compare the iPhone's Developer License Agreement with Android's Developer License Agreement.
downloading malware detection applications (and updates) is too heavy consider.
Any yet they find the time to download all of that malware...

Wow, so you were buying software that you weren't even using. That is.... I don't even know what. "Special" maybe.

If nobody knows Steve Job's email, then how can we confirm that the headers indicate it was sent by him?

Who is talking about servers? I'm thinking about my home machines, you know, where the client-side javascript runs...
