Trying and failing where none have succeeded before does not a "hack" make.
If indeed he simply duplicated what someone else has done before then that does diminish this acheivement, but I have heard nothing of the sort, you are an AC, and have not provided any citations.
Your ad hominem attack, and your unprovoked lashing out at game piraters makes me think that you have a personal stake in this somehow. Without citations, I'm going to go ahead and say you are full of shit.
I think the GP isn't suggesting that this will make the PS3 fair better to any significant degree in the market at large, but rather make it more popular with nerd types you might find on places like slashdot.
Who knows though, it probably wouldn't be too out of line to claim that iphone unlocking made those more desirable, plenty of my non-nerd friends have unlocked iphones.
I think step three in your plan is something along the lines of "users get fed up with the irrelevant searchh results yahoo seems to be giving them, and switch back to using google."
And really, if this was somehow a good idea, why would they only do it to Ubuntu? Why not hit other alternative operating system users as well? This will really only work if Yahoo steals the user's underpants as well.
I chose that particular example because wikipedia is widely known as a place the general population can go to pick up a basic understanding of various topics.
Its called a metaphor dude, you should feel lucky I didn't involve cars.
As for the Soviets stealing nuclear secrets: Of course they did, and nobody is denying it. All we are saying is that anyone who thinks the Soviets did not possess competent scientists of their own, but instead only used spies, is an idiot.
Yeah, I wasn't going for a +1 Funny mod there, I've actually been noticing numerous troll or flamebait moderations for relevant and insightful/informative posts that happened to be somewhat critical of the Chinese government by nature of what they were saying.
I figure it's either elitist suburbanites who figure they will be more "progressive" than everyone else today, or Chinese astroturfers (paid or otherwise). A message to the former: get real, the Chinese government (and other governments or organizations, including the US Airforce) is known for encouraging people to astroturf for them and you are not doing anybody a favor by accusing people who point this out of being trolls.
The Rosenbergs were definetly guilty, and the Russians have admitted as much. However, what they actually gave the Russians was mainly drivel that any 6th grader with access to wikipedia could write up. To attribute all of the advances in nuclear science made by the russians to the Rosenbergs, or similar spies, is absolutely retarded.
This guy must be smoking something, all the US propaganda I've ever seen seems to indicate that the Russians had shittons of nukes and were itching to use them on every single small town in America.
If this guy really is convinced the Russians didn't have shit for nuclear scientists, then he surely wasn't watching American propaganda. Honestly I suspect mental illness.
The price of the diamonds would still need to cover the price of retrieving them, so until it got cheap and efficient to collect them, they would still be rather expensive.
You are confusing patents and copyright. Disney had the copyright period extended to the absurd but patents are, and have been, 20 years. They have a copyright on Mickey Mouse, not a patent.
Trust me, bigger people than the people behind MPEG have had far bigger reasons to try extending patents.
Don't worry. "Updating" MP3 like this will not extend the coverage period of the patents on the original MP3. The patents on MP3 will still expire on schedule, though I can't say I actually care enough to look up when that may be.
Eh, most of this is a matter of preference. I got a thinkpad because as a touch typer, I actually prefer the clit mouse to mousepads (don't have to remove my hands from the keyboard) and because the thinkpad's keyboard has a much nicer feel to me. I don't look at the keyboard when I type anyways, so a backlight keyboard seems rather pointless to me...
As for a sturdier design, I can't speak for what kind of abuse a MBP can take, but I once slipped on ice and dropped my T60p 2-3 feet onto a steel manhole cover with no apparent damage (two years later it's still running fine).
The more reserved and understated design is mostly just an added bonus to me;)

If by "hackability", you mean Halo...

Only a slashdotter would think someone claiming to have a life is being dramatic.
Wonderful. The portability and convience of a macbook, combined with the openness of an iphone.
I'll take three.

heh, thanks :)
I was wondering for a second, the sports presence here is so terrible I barely even recognize my school's own mascot ;)

Beware, the chinese astroturfers also have modpoints.
Um, way to miss the point entirely?

I'm pretty sure they covered that one in The Hunt for the Red October.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a feeling such a book would provide a much better shave than a read.

I'm fairly certain that claiming you are not going to Godwin a conversation is in fact Godwin'ing a conversation, but I agree with you in any case.
I'll gladly get 22MPG instead of 23MPG if it means I don't have to bother with a manual.
I use my car to commute, not dragrace in the Andies...
I see your capslock key is acting up though. You might want to have Apple take a look at that for you.

Well hell, with those sorts of risks I may as well just run linux...
Thank you sir! May I have another?
So so naive.
The atmosphere is decelerating astronauts on reentry...
