Oh, they exist. Since early January we have had the SAME five 60gb models warming our display case, but we've sold all both 20gb models after all these months. Standard price, regular ***mart customers, just no one wants this gold-plated brick in the red states.
Silly Sony, so many Americans are living in this "booming" economy of fast food and chain retailers wages. Thinking $500-600 + $60 (for 1 game) + $___ for extra controllers, cables, etc, etc. is ridiculous. Don't forget those taxes too!
The PS3 may have some hp, but its just too damn expensive (sorry, Mr. dead horse). Should be no shock that the Wii and handhelds are overwhelmingly popular for price alone. At lease folks in these red states could scrape $500 + ___ misc fees to enjoy some games a lot faster than they could with the $600 model. Oh well, at least we'll never have to deal with an angry customer because we're sold out of PS3s:D

I've never heard a pastor yelling "attaboy!" from the pulpit after these (well, maybe Pat has -not saying he has-, but that man SHOULD have his 1st amendment rights revoked), and I've yet to hear one tell parishioners to go out and abuse people.

Honestly, if you see American mainstream Christianity as a twin of extremist Muslim terrorism then please do us a favor. One last thing to consider: although most Christians don't accept homosexuality that doesn't mean they're the sole people who work against it. Many non-religious people find the practice disgusting, I have to agree. Many non-religious people vote down laws supporting gay marriage and actively propose amendments banning it. Many of us have a tough time on this subject because while we want equality we don't want our kids to be influenced this way. Yes, its intolerant in a way, but when I have a son I want him to fall in love with a girl. If its a boy, well, I'm not gonna be ecstatic, but he'll be my kid. You see what I'm saying? You can't call everything black and white. In America we have ultra-conservative non-religious AND religious. We also have liberal religious AND non-religious. There are "rainbow" churches and there are churches that don't discriminate on this lifestyle.

I know MANY Sears Holdings stores didn't receive the console. We've got signs up in these stores that essentially say Sony overestimated what they had and failed to deliver.
The above doesn't really matter though, it'll be about what the public wants. Will parents/geeks drive all around town daily hoping to get one of the 4-5 units that might come in on a truck? Will they be willing to fork over $600-800 dollars for hardware and games? Will they hand over the plastic knowing what the reviewers say? Sony has had a TON of bad publicity in about every segment of their brands this year, I can't imagine they'll honestly sell a mil come Jan.
Poor PR due to low numbers + loss on hardware + poor revenue on the slim software launch = bad move. If they'd waited till after x-mas for release they'd probably made more money, gained better publicity, and shipped a greater software lineup. No one in their right mind can claim the Nov launch will provide a positive revenue number (and in no way a profit). They sure didn't make Nintendo look bad either, and MS blitzed retail with sharp displays and special prices.
