1: Lots of Adobe. I think every single one has Adobe and MS products. 2: Some of the pirated software has readily available free alternatives, like Anti-virus Software for one. 3: The settlements paid do not reflect the amount of unlicensed software on the list.
And this is not the only thing going for them of course. There's so much going for Linux in the market at the moment, and the UI is not that difficult to learn any more either.
And then there is the thing of loadsa choices... it's like being set loose in a candy store.
We still have capped internet, so that would just mean you hit your 3gb cap in a few days, plus the fastest internet we have is 4mbps, so your downloads would take forever if you carried a few piggybacks along...
Ah, but if THEY get to figure out your relationships, they can use that info for better marketing. This is a way for them to gather even more info on their users. That's about it.
I have moved over to Gmail from Yahoo, for me that is the best online mail client out there, and with built in pop3/imap support, whatever Yahoo does had better be one heck of a lot better than what Gmail offers in order to even begin competing...
This HAS to be one of the coolest game controllers out there. And it lets you get your rock on extra special loud I bet. Hate the neighbors? Get their kids one of these.
It gets completely ruined by those darned clear plastic covers people put on. I hate the bloody thing, sitting there, making the keyboard feel different, it actually tires my hands trying to subconsciously "push through" it to type.
The majority of car accidents could be avoided if only the drivers would drive more responsibly. About 40% of car accident fatalities occur because of a drunken driver. About 30% of the car accident fatalities can be attributed to driving above the speed limits and 33% and above because of reckless driving that causes the car to go off the road and result in an accident.
According to them the number of road deaths is "in excess of 40 000", which is just sad.
Take care of the drunken drivine, speeding and recklessness and you can take off the foam bumpers.
But I tend to agree that your example is how the government would handle the situation, it breaks my heart...
It appears the product is scheduled for a public Beta 1 release sometime during the summer of 2006, followed by a Beta 2 release around Q1 of 2007, and finally, an RTM of the product sometime in the second half of 2007.
Build a stand alone device that you can attach to a shipping container that logs messages according to motion, to detect when it is offloaded for instance, reports the GPS location (to track if it is misplaced), records video of everyone who tampers (motion sensor again) and customs officers can plug in the screen to check the logs/video on site.
And I bet that is not even the best idea, and more components are to follow...
I hope it doesn't get smashed up with legislation and patent infringement shebangs and copyright infringements etc, etc...
Think of it, with millions of people out there building essentially whatever they want/need, the way things are going across the world someone is bound to infringe on someone else's IP or such.
Good idea, hope it changes the world for the better...
If this works, it could be feasible to have data centers in space. If WIFI coverage could ever extend that far, what stands in the way of having a solar powered server in low orbit?
Well, on site support and maintenance might be problematic, but don't kill the dream with logic just right now.
Well... maybe it won't work after all, not until maintenance or reliability becomes less of an issue. I'd hate to be the one to send a million dollar space mission up to replace a fried motherboard...
From TFA: Sentencing records also show that Lin began trading e-mails with his co-workers that September, discussing the anticipated layoffs. Then, in October, he sent an e-mail saying he was unsure whether he would survive the upcoming layoffs.
Desperation can make a dude do stupid things. Revenge coupled with an anticipated wrong is even worse.
Also:
The logic bomb initially was set up to be triggered on April 23, 2004 -- Lin's birthday -- but it failed to launch because of a coding error. In September 2004, Lin changed the code to fix the error and reset it to deploy on April 23, 2005.
During the sentencing hearing today, Lin's attorney argued that his client simply made a mistake. Liebermann, however, argued that this was far from a mistake. "We said a mistake is something you make once," he said. "You fly off the handle and make a mistake. He had from October 2003 to January 2005 to wipe it out and he didn't."
1. For once a coding error was A GOOD THING. 2. I agree with Liebermann's argument. 3. I wonder if a Psyche profile was done on this guy, he seems to be borderline... something...
I knew that the Images where artificially colored, but I did not realise it was altered that much. It is a bit of a let down, but still, I think it is impressive.
Close to where we stay is an observatory, I plan on going there on the 30th to have a look at the Mars Impact, if that will happen at all btw., and I hope to get a "real" look at some of the gems in the sky...

"Sir, it seems the phone line has been cut!"
"Well, how do you know?"
"Agent Wasnowsky wanted to post on slashdot and his connection timed out..."

Yet more cowbell! MORE MORE! A guy on a forum I frequent did a cool drum solo with lots of cowbell...

How long before the real deal ships?
Yes. And good writing skillz. And talking good also helps. Then personal hygiene skills. LPI and RHCE as well...
Yes.
They go after EVERYBODY...
But do they have the ambition?
Come to think of it, the Hobbits mightn't either...

Hobbyist I take your meaning to be...
Hobbits I'm afraid may either have little use for this, or try to rule the world by means of WMD (Weapons of Mass Dysfunction...)

I hope this idea floats, I hope they have enough liquid assets...
Oh the puns! I can't resist!
